INFO:

Manuel Sanchís Hontiyuelo (born 23 May 1965 in Madrid) is a former Spanish footballer, who played as a central defender.
A part of the famous Quinta del Buitre which stemmed from the Real Madrid youth ranks, he was the only of its five members to play his entire career for the capital side.

A product of Real Madrid's prolific youth system, Sanchís made his debut with the first team on December 4, 1983, scoring the game's only goal at Real Murcia, and finishing his debut season with a further 17 appearances (and two goals) for the main side.

During the following 15 seasons, Sanchís only appeared in less than 30 matches in two, and was instrumental in the Merengues' several conquests, including six leagues, two Champions League and two UEFA Cups. In 1999–2000, he appeared sparingly, but still helped to the club's 8th European Cup.

Sanchís retired in 2001, having appeared in 710 overall matches for Real Madrid (524 of those in the league), while also captaining the side during 13 years.

I think it's impossible to rate a player in a period of 18 years
You should find his best season or seasons and then make the stats for that time, cause obviously he wasn't the same in his prime as in his debut or his decline or retirement.

Revamped and added to the database. Not absolutely sure about some values, may need further tweaking after I see more matches... will try to do a "player vs. team" video as well. Red Response may seem a big exaggerated but he was a really aggresive defender, left his line a lot to intercept passes and apply pressure on rivals. Part of his aggresive style probably had to do with having Roberto Carlos as partner in the left side of Madrid's defence. Other than that, he was also a pretty aggresive marker and good tackler, cleaner than Hierro for sure. Very energetic as well. And a good passer... his short passes were usually simple, straigthforward passes but knew to put good pace on them, and when he felt like it he could also deliver some nice long passes as well.

From the complete matches I've seen, I got the feeling he was left footed although quite skilled with his right as well. I'll make at least one "player vs. team" video soon. In any case he may deserve more than WFA 5.

http://www.enciclopedia-football.com/we ... 30&lang=en Again, he was right-footed. ;) I've also been watching three matches of Real Madrid during the 1980s and in those Sanchís almost always used his right foot to kick the ball. Another suggestion: Please add sweeper as secondary position as he played it also quite often.

Revised some videos. Yes, he was right-footed. Will leave him with WFA 6 for the time being.
