Martin Hugh Michael O'Neill, OBE, (born 1 March 1952 in Kilrea, Northern Ireland) captained the Northern Ireland national football team, also known as a hard working right sided midfield player for Nottingham Forest during their glory years in the late 70's.
After fading from the Forest first team, Brian Clough transformed O'Neill into a tenacious midfielder. An automatic choice for Northern Ireland throughout his career winning 64 caps, O'Neill won a League Championship medal in 1977/78, two league cup winners medals in 78 and 79 and a European Cup Medal in 1979/80 having been left out of the side for the previous year's final.
He also played in a key role in Northern Ireland's 1982 World Cup in Spain.
