Is he still that good with Def 91? He has it in his actual Inter stats. I think it should be like 88-89 in today's Inter and 91 here. ;)

Watch every Inter match he has played and then come back. I wonder if you still feel the same.

His BAL should be in red region 95-96, as Sol Campbell from the same era is on 96. He really was one of the strongest players, that's why he's named THE WALL isn't it?

Updated 2000-2001 Samuel to fit new format. Changes...

1. Aggression: 66-->69 (2 points above current and 2006-2007 Materazzi),

2. Added new Cards: S07: Man Marking, S08: Slide Tackle, S09: Covering + Attack/Defence Awareness Card: Defence Minded (for both sets of stats).

3. Added Growth type: Early/Lasting (for both sets of stats). Added Videos and Additional Links.

I could say that Cons 6 is wrong for the 09/10 set....(and obviously the current set too)

based on consistency and consequences.

The special skills ('stars') are missing, or at least I can't see them :(

ERRRRM I am about to do a master league with a 2004-2005 madrid squad and I am wondering which Samuel era is more appropriate?? I really didnt see much of madrid at this time but based on wiki they didnt have a bad season. I just doubt he was a red defence defender during this season, but he was 26, well into his prime. In the subsequent seasons at inter he was a boss soooo.

From what can I remembered, even Ibrahimovich on Barca's and AC Milan's day (red bb) struggling when face old Samuel in physical contact. This may be heard strange, but regardless Ibra value, Samuel may have higher bb. Also if u look Aldair is at 91. Not to say Aldair is weak, but I dont see Samuel is inferior to Aldair in term of bb.

I saw the 09/10 Inter-Juve match in Serie-A to see how good Walter Samuel was and I was left speechless by his performance. I shared my views on the match on Discord that day which I'm now posting here:

Suji — 07/13/2021
Damn
This Walter Samuel guy looks out of the world
Just super solid
not letting loose even for a second
Unreal concentration
Suji — 07/13/2021
and this Lucio guy's very proactive
He does defend like Blanc
But Samuel looks quite a bit better than him
Saying this from seeing a half of their football, Lucio looks high DEF. sure.
But 93 for his classic set seems a bit excessive
On the other hand, Samuel's looking no less than Nesta to me
I might be making a mistake or something
But this guy looks high reds for DEF to me
I think I saw some 99 DEF today
If someone knows Samuel from his playing days, I'd like it if you could give your opinion on him. Your feedback would be appreciated
Both of these look like great dispossessers to me
My God, this CB pairing looks pretty much perfect
Lucio looks low on TW but it's no issue really
Whenever he holds his ground forward, Samuel is always there ready to sweep anything that can come his way
They depend on their SBs and Cambiasso for Defending at times too
This whole team seems brilliant
and another great thing is, Samuel isn't bad at coming out and intercepting either
He looks bordering oranges for RES himself
But he's mostly leaving that part to Lucio
Even when their roles are reversed, they're looking solid
Lucio isn't looking that impressive while covering but is decent enough
Suji — 07/13/2021
I think I might be going crazy
But Samuel's awareness is looking better than Nesta to me
Like MUCH better

I've only seen one match of his so, I think I need to see more of him to correctly analyze his qualities and limitations. But from what I've seen, I'm confident that he's one of the best ever defenders. I think he should be mentioned with the likes of Nesta and Thiago Silva when talking about truly great defenders. For me, he's something like 97-98/87/95 DEF/RES/TW.
I also saw a vid that showcased his heading abilities and I think HEAD should be better than 87, it looked a solid 92 to me. I didn't see him play week in,week out so of course if you don't agree with my opinions then please show your disagreement without hesitation. His physical stats look very well rated to me. Actually all of the other values look alright to me.

So I saw the 2009/10 CL SF 1st leg between Barca and Inter today and every impression I had from the above game seems right.
He is never out of position and his syncing of runs with the attacker he's marking is just perfect. The best awareness I've seen from a defender yet. Almost always knows what's happening around him. Brilliant tackler too. Took the ball away from no less than Messi a few times in the match. His intelligence is simply one of the best ever.
His TW is HUGE. Might be reds but just to be sure I'd have to look at stats like how many times his personal errors led to goals per season, etc. I think he should be 92-93 at least.
His DEF to me is in all-time range as well. Like I wrote in my previous comment, he should be around 97 DEF.
