Re: Demba BA

I discussed him a bit in the formation section, but I feel he is as traditional of a CF they have. Good in his positioning and really likes to test the lines. But body, that can get some speed once he gets moving. Doesn't track back too much. He gets a lot of opportunities, and doesn't have the best scoring touch despite his record.

9 CF/LWF Demba ba - +Agg/+attk/ave agility & accel/+ts(not as good as obasi)/Doesn't track back much*lines?/ave tech/-SA/-TW/

My thoughts:
Balance: 84 (minimum)
Acceleration: 84 (no way. His burst is not very good. He is fast with a head of steam, but doesn't burst like Obasi. 78 is my suggestion)
Response: 79 (he times his runs pretty well, and reponds well to the ball, just doesn't always have the finishing quality. No suggestion, but I could see it being higher)
Shot Accuracy: 79 (only if he has the *scoring removed. In two games he missed 3 open goals)
Aggression: 84 (maybe even higher)
Technique: 80 (his 1st touch let him down on a number of occassions.)
Mentality: 81 (LOWER. IMO he only tracks slightly more than Ibišević. I would put him at best average in his mentality 76/77)
TW: 78 (I thought he was the worst of their forwards at connecting with teammates)
Injury Tolerance: A (never injured?? B is the standard)
Scoring* (REMOVE. He is not more deserving than my man Pellisier :P . In the future I could see this. But there are guys like Ibra than don't have this. Ba is not more deserving IMO)
Post Player*(I'd prefer *Positioning. He doesn't play a post up role really. Not like Rob Friend or Corradi)
*Positioning (add. He always seems to be in a better position than the defender.)
*Lines (only really line hugger on their team. He times them well too. But with this and 79 res, he might be called offsides a lot :? )

With your explanation about Ba's defensive Behaviour you're very exclusive i think.
After checking a lot of Opinions in the Hoffenheim Forum about him i would say that the majority of the Supporters are hughes fans of his Ballwinning Quality and his Teamplay( yes,his Teamplay!!!) although he is a opportunity killer.
In addition most of them are on the Position that Ba is definetly more talented then Ibisevic and that is exactly my Point of view too.

Well....the obviously significant differences are TS/ACC & Shooting categories. I really thought Obasi was faster than Ba :?

Did you see the difference between their size?
Demba Ba: 189/84
Obasi: 188/77

In my opinion there is a difference because of the higher weight, so Ba should have higher Speed values.
As for the shooting, Ba made 7 goals in the first and 7 in the second half but in my eyes the goals in the second half of the season were really better as Ibisevic was injured there, so Ba had to run more to get his chances, but his shots got also more accuracy than before.
Btw, he scored 3 times against Stuttgart by only having three chances. ;)

I respect your opinion. I just want to explain my point of view. I did notice their size difference, and I know that the values alone don't mean that Ba is "faster" than Obasi. But my point is that I thought Obasi should be "faster" than Ba.....and this size difference they will likely be similar in pace or maybe Obasi would be very slightly faster. But I thought Obasi would have been 2-4 points higher(if they had the same height and weight). But maybe my memory is fuzzy :insert a loopy looking facial expression:

For me they're on the same level in speed.
Well, I don't exactly who is really faster, but Demba Ba with his long legs is incredible fast, he still made great steps and so he has a high speed, he reminds me a bit to Adebayor.
Obasi is fast, too, but I don't see their a great difference between both.

No, he won't be a free agent. Hoffenhem try to sold him. If nobody wants to buy him he will stay but he will not play for this team anymore.

He's been failing medicals left, right and centre and he has problems with his knees apparently? IT: B and condition 7 doesn't suggest anything out of the ordinary and on the contrary suggests a player who is fighting fit 90% of the time. Can only go on what I'm hearing on the radio at the moment but he doesn't sound like he's too fit..

he has an old injury, but he`s able to play. It`s difficuilt. He isn`t a guy who is so often injured like a Robben or Ribery, but the injury he has could be problematic for his career.

I've been impressed with Ba's quick adaption to the EPL.
I think he deserves a 84 BB, on par with Balotelli and Anelka.
He's been difficult for defenders to bully him off the ball.
