Bastian Schweinsteiger (born 1 August 1984) is a German footballer who plays as a midfielder for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and the German national team. A right-footed player, he is capable of playing out wide or in a more central role. Schweinsteiger has won many awards in his club and international careers, including six Bundesliga titles, six German Cups, a UEFA Champions League title, and two League Cups. As of January 2011, he is the Bayern Munich vice-captain to long-time teammate Philipp Lahm.

Schweinsteiger signed with Bayern Munich as a youth team player on 1 July 1998[2] and rose through the club's youth sides. A talented youth ski racer, he had to decide between pursuing a professional career in skiing or one in football. Having won the German youth championship in July 2002, Schweinsteiger quickly earned a place in the reserves, producing a string of solid third division displays. He initially earned a reputation for being a rebel off the pitch, making headlines for the wrong reasons but has since settled down.

A left midfielder who can also play on the right, he has excellent dribbling skills and is a specialist at set pieces. Schweinsteiger also has a hard shot and often scores from outside the penalty area. He can play as a defensive midfielder or just behind the strikers. During his first appearances in the titular eleven, he played left-back. After just two training sessions with the first team, coach Ottmar Hitzfeld gave Schweinsteiger his debut as a late substitute in a UEFA Champions League game against RC Lens in November 2002, and the youngster made an immediate impact, creating a goal for Markus Feulner within minutes. He signed a professional contract the following month and went on to appear in 14 Bundesliga games in 2002–03, helping Bayern to a league and cup double. The next season he played 26 Bundesliga games. He scored his first Bayern goal against VfL Wolfsburg in September 2003.

Surprisingly sent back to Bayern's reserve team by new coach Felix Magath at the beginning of the 2005–06 season despite his international exploits of the summer in the Confederations Cup, Schweinsteiger swiftly returned to play a role in the double-winning campaign and scored in Bayern's Champions League quarter-final first-leg defeat at Chelsea.

Over the next three seasons, up until the end of 2007–08, Schweinsteiger made 135 appearances in all competitions for Bayern Munich (UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga and German Cup), scoring 10 goals in the process.

On 15 August 2008, Schweinsteiger scored the first Bundesliga goal of the 2008–09 season. In December 2010, he extended his contract with Bayern until 2016.

On 25 April 2012, Schweinsteiger scored from the last and match-clinching penalty kick against Real Madrid to send Bayern to the 2012 UEFA Champions League Final.

In the 2012–13 season, Schweinsteiger has performed considerably well, continuing his duties as central midfielder along with new signing Javi Martínez.

On 6 April 2013, Schweinsteiger scored a backheel flick goal against Eintracht Frankfurt which sealed the Bundesliga title for Bayern.

For my bayern Classic team I´ve created a Schweinsteiger set from his early Bayern days and it`s complete different to this.

Position? You mean he should be SMF? What the fck these stats are? Mentality 86?

Edit: there should be made younger version of him, when he was so much different player than now.

Hrmm, I'll consider that option, theres a few that are salvageable though and have already been made semi-accurate, I'll leave the bad ones for the time being.

In the 2010-2014set I think that his technique, ball control can be a little higher than 85.

Altough his da is pretty tricky to rate (at least to me) I don't think it has improved that much overtime. He was actually more of a dribbler in his young days, however that's more due to better speed and agility. Considering that 2010-14 set is newer, has been elaborated in BL section I lean towards increasing earliers set da rather than decreasing da in prime set. The difference shouldn't be greater than 1-2 points so min 83da IMO for 07/08 set.

Also, another set might be added for sake of WC06 Germany team.

Exactly, I think a combination of 84/85 DA and 85 TEC in the first set and TEC in last 86 double in DA and TEC (or a point higher in the TEC than DA) in the last set can demonstrate his evolution and also let close the technique values in the 07-08 and 10-14 set.

He currently is rated at 82da and in this aspect he barely declined. If anything I'd decrease 10-14 da. The main thing is that he basically always has been more than barely yellows da like 07-08 set suggests. And that set shouldn't even be considered as "early". He's been a starter in both Bayern and NT since 2004 basically and even at that time 80 da would be a bare minimum IMO. So as I said earlier 07/08 should be closer to prime in terms of da.

PS. How come he became a worse shooter overtime? His goal record suggest completely opposite; 2007/08: 48app/2goals, 2010/11: 45app/8goals, 2011/12: 36app/5goals, 2012/13: 45app/9goals, 2013/14: 36app/8goals. And although in latter days he was placed in the center of the pitch instead of the side keep in mind he was playing a much less offensive role.
