INFO:

Mark Peter Gertruda Andreas van Bommel (born 22 April 1977) is a Dutch former professional footballer.

Van Bommel won the 2005–06 UEFA Champions League with Barcelona and was part of the Netherlands team that finished runner-up of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. His FIFA World Cup profile describes him as "a tackling machine and expert ball-winner, but he also boasts a fine array of passes and a powerful shot, having been a free-kick specialist during his PSV days". When he played for Bayern Munich, he was the club's first non-German captain. During this period, he led the team to two Bundesliga titles, and finished runner-up in the 2010 UEFA Champions League Final.

Between 2000 and 2011, Van Bommel won eight national championship titles in four different competitions, four with PSV, two with Bayern Munich, one with Barcelona and one with Milan. He is also the son-in-law of former Netherlands national team manager Bert van Marwijk.

Because he is miserable. This is not a international from the netherlands and a Barcelona player. First, he is a CMF who can play anywere in midfield, but preferably in the right side and tending more towards defense than atack. He's a good passer, he is strong, a teamworker, tactically aware, a fighter (sometimes too much) with good stamina and attitude, he has a hell of a blast and he was one of the best CMF in the world at that time.

I don't want to post a new set of stats as i think Konami's default r pretty accurate, with a few tweaks here and there they would be just right. So my advise would be for u to go and check them and do a whole new set of stats.
What i find most intriguing, and that's why i asked if u had something against him, is that u generally overate players but this time u clearly and strongly underated one.

Stats above looks fine but personally I would lower his ATT and LPA, rise his DEF and RES.

No, i would lower defense, first because he wasn't a positional player but a wiling to defend and run a lot player, second because his tackles weren't anything special and third because he was a CMF. In fact i'd lower it to 70 top. Technique was a little better and he had a hell of a cannon he deserves middle-shooting, i clearly remember that in that infamous Portugal vs Netherlands he was one of the Dutch players who shot more. He had some nice volleys, not shure if enough to deserve the 1-touch pass star. Agree long pass accuracy may be a bit overated. And u already have the outside star so u can give him WFF 5.

Better? Much, Much better! The shape is done now u just need to polish it. ;)

Maybe MS, not sure, what about RES? Besides of that I think his peak was in last PSV season not in Barca.

updated

I have left defense as it is as earlier you quite cleary said he was more defense-minded than attack minded, well if i put DEF at 70 like you said he will be very attack minded which is wrong

He wasn't that good at defending, if u check the ladders u won't find many CMFs with these values I think.

I take a look at the posts and... wasn't he a DMF on FC Barcelona? I can't understand why you said that he was a CMF... He was the last man of the middlefield on these days. I can remember on the Champion's final on París when Barça won his second cup. Van Bommel didn't convinced Rijkard and Iniesta enters to the field... where? on DMF! Where Van Bommel played.

Yeah he was definitly a DM, although to be fair, in the final it was Edmilson who started in DM which meant van Bommel and Deco played slightly further up, at least that's how I remember it anyway  But yeah, DM should be his primary position ;)

I was also wondering, why is it that Xavi didn't play in the final? He was an un-used substitute :|

Sorry I made a little mistake with Van Bommel's example...  Anyway, Edmilson was changed practically at the same time than Mark, if I'm not wrong again. And Xavi was injured or going out of one, like Messi. ;)

I origanly had him as a DM in the first set I posted and only changed it becuase P1rha told me to, and in hindsight I know I shouldn't have done that as a) My gut feeling told me not to b) My footballing knowledge and logic told me not to and c) we have the 3 agrees rule for a reason (I know we don't stick to it anymore)

Will fix know and do a format update and add cards

You can lower a bit his Balance IMO. He was strong, yes, but considering height and weight, he is like a crazy rock now. Probably a 86 is better.

And Agility can be raised to 75/76 at least. 74 seems out of standards.
