The heartbeat of perhaps the most stylish side for many a year, Xavi is the conductor that sets the tempo for Barcelona's orchestra of attacking talent. Having captained Spain at youth level, the midfielder has not missed a major tournament since making his senior debut in November 2000 and is the shining light in a Spain midfield already overflowing with world-class talent.
Having been at the Nou Camp since the age of 11, Xavi is the living embodiment of Barcelona's philosophy of artful and aesthetically-pleasing football and is undoubtedly one of the globe's leading playmakers. After taking up the mantle of dictating Barca's midfield following the departure of Josep Guardiola, now his coach, in 2001, Xavi has become the central cog in Europe's finest club side and enjoys an intuitive understanding with Barca and Spain team-mate Andres Iniesta, constructing what Sir Alex Ferguson has described as the Catalans' "passing carousel".

After being named player of the tournament as Spain triumphed at Euro 2008, Xavi enjoyed a remarkable season at Barca when winning six titles in 2008-09. He has won everything there is to win in the game - including the 2010 World Cup - and is one of the best playmakers of his generation.

Teamwork could be raised to 98, current Xavi has 98 and I don't think he warrants a higher teamwork than classic xavi.

Also, I don't think 04-06 xavi warrants a red value in SPA, he lived in deco's shadow really, who may be worthy of a red at a push, 91-93 would suit xavi fine in those days.

Great stats. I was wondering if someone could make a set for the younger Xavi, around 1999-2002, when he was establishing himself in the Barca team. Big ask, I know, but surely he deserves 3 sets which would accurately represent his development.

the second set needs to be completely reworked and the first set should be replaced with the current set which still reprsents his prime (just needs increase speed stats)

Replaced with current set but didn't touch his speed stats. Nearly finished going around systematically update all recently update threads for frozen teams from Inter and Barca . Big thanks to Zuo who Pm'd me most of the Inter updates ;)

Boost spa to 97 imo, he is as good as Riquelme prime.

This xavi is not anywhere near representative of 09 xavi, his stamina should be 89-90, higher than current xavi, dribb acc at least 90 too.

Yeah, that's true, but either riquelme is too good or xavi not good enough, his SPA is higher than M. Laudrup imo, long pass not so high but how can you possibly argue that xavi's short pass is not on riquelme's level

wel, i said again, xavi isn't better than riquelme IMO but the diference between laudrup and xavi is nothing because
xavi have SPA:96 and laudrup 97. but xavi have SPS +4, and TW +6 than laudrup... and compared with riquelme, xavi have -1 in SPA than riquelme but have +5 in SPS
and are diferents players, riquelme and laudrup do more vertical and dangerous passes compared with xavi.

and i don't like put number to the players based in videos, because the in the videos you can view only the best things of a player.

that's my opinon, wait for others ;)

Want me to show you how much would de la Peña deserve? He was better than Xavi at edit: through short passing, but much more unconsistent. Still the highlights don't say the same.

agree with fixer, in the videos you only can see the good passes and the good things of the players, never the bad things or how many failed passes he do before a good pass

This isn't about opinions based on videos, I agree, M. Laudrup and Riquelme have uncredible passing ranges, but xavi is undoubtedly the best short passer of the ball for at least 10 years. If anything, drop teamwork by 1 and raise spa by 1, I refuse to accept that his SPA is anything less than 97, should really be 98 imo.
