He's a typical "contact" CB, always tight and always chasing the ball. Response can be a bit higher, yellow DEF seems quite generous.

He's faster than this obviously. As i said RES > DEF too, set needs some work.

I think he is better than this also in passing, and what about offensive fullback? He reminds Lucio from that point of view, always trying to start run with the ball and is usual for him to overpass the midfield

Yeah he is a ball playing defender, not sure about passing, i mean he is better than this i agree but against Man Utd he had some floppy passes, was in possession a lot, Mourinho let him a lot of possession.

This guy is so fucking shit it makes me question football in general, only way I'd ever see someone this mindless working at a high level is in a back 3, which I guess is why spurs signed him. Truly one of the stupidest, most uncordinated, mindless CB's I've ever seen.

Sloppy performances against BVB and Swansea. Got bullied by Abraham today, the young stiker outmuscled him in most of clashes, but being alone upfront in super defensive side, Swansea didn't took advantage of that. Playing way too tight, making stupid fouls all the time, giving the ball away too. Really seems like a huge very very possible flop for Spurs, for those who followed him at Ajax, nothing unordinary.

i honestly thought he was supposed to be a great CB lol, I guess I read too many shitty writers and have too much trust in their judgement, but I have no idea why am I surprised, these are the same people that Ramos is best CB today.

For me he is an excellent defender, he is fast and strong in the 1 count 1 it is very difficult to win him a defender, in Defense an increase to 83

No way on Earth he should be granted yellow values on DEF.

Even if the set reflect his reluctance to commit himself to tactics, a CB with yellow DEF is fairly effective on doing everything what takes to protect the goal at his back at all costs, either through tackles or other defensive maneuvers... And that's not how it works in his case. He just has an interesting combo of Balance, RES + other speed stats. Otherwise, he's a very unrefined defender overall.

I don't have a good grasp on his tackling, the thing i've noticed more is how lost he is positionally most of the time, so more of a TW issue ? He had a lower TW value recently that might convey him best when viewing the set as whole. A 60ish/high 50s value can be appropriate if the player is utterly ignorant in that sense.

Maybe he needs a little boost in his jump stat. Take a look to the following picture:

Image

Ramos is 1.83 and has 90 jump. Sánchez is 1.87 and has 81 jump. The Colombian's max height in the air is a little higher than the Spanish's (despite the fact that the ball was won by Ramos... maybe it's because of positioning-wise terms). I'd seriously evaluate that Sánchez's stat.

https://youtu.be/1Gy9OaVX4L0?t=380 so he is supposed to be marking Boly here. The biggest dude on the field. He even stares right at him and just allows him space. I'll repeat: he willingly let his mark, the most dangerous man on the field from dead balls, to be completely free for a header inside the box. He always seems disengaged with his teammates and completely unaware of how to play as a unit. Even when tied 1-1 he was often caught too high up the field and put Spurs in awkward spots at the back.

Edit:
https://youtu.be/wIwpCSX8euM?t=104 there he is getting beat again easily in the air
https://youtu.be/wIwpCSX8euM?t=248 the too aggressive bite that allowed Gylfi past him easily

i think his TW should be even worst, has lacks of communication or he has attention problems but he always struggles with positioning

Yeah, his "best deffensive attribute" is to run fast in long stretches, but it's still not enough for Premier League level. What a wasteful player :/
