maybe messi out sheva in? messi's era can be in 2010s I think, if we will do a 2010s allstars, messi will join it. He's still improving and becoming better than 00 years.

This formation is imbalanced. I would suggest the following:
-------------------------------Buffon--------------------------------
Zanetti------------Nesta-------------Cannavaro------------Puyol
---------------------Xavi---------------Vieira-----------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------Ronaldinho-----------------------------
Messi------------------------Henry---------------------C. Ronaldo

this decade i think that has been particular and differents from the other, the best solution should be create 2 teams, 1 for the first generation until the wc2006, the other until 2010.

first generation team

gk buffon vandersar kahn
df cafu thuram nesta cannavaro maldini roberto carlos stam lucio ashleycole
mid viera gerrard seedorf veron ballack lampard giggs nedved kaka figo beckham zidane
att henry ronaldo shevchenko van nisterlooy raul rivaldo delpiero ronaldinho

2nd team
gk casillas jcesar cech
df maicon d.alves lahm s.ramos samuel puyol terry ferdinand
md lampard gerrard kaka ribery robben iniesta xavi pirlo cambiasso essien snejder
att messi c.ronaldo ibrahimovic villa ronaldinho torres eto'o milito rooney drogba

i suggest also another 3 team with other stronger and outsider player
gk barthez toldo dida
df riise carvalho zambrotta toure marquez materazzi hyppia campbell
mid scholes deco pires ljunberg ruicosta rosicky derossi schweinsteiger juninho makelele riquelme
att totti vieri inzaghi klose adriano trezeguet crespo owen makaay larsson

Just a few thoughts:

Sorin was, of course, a very, very good player but I don't think he deserves a place ahead of either Cole or Lahm.

I'm really shocked to see Riquelme excluded! I would have him and Xavi in the squad ahead of Gerrard and Figo. If Figo is in there for width, I would say that's already provided with Messi, Nedved and Henry drifting wide/inside, and the attack-minded full-backs.

Personally, and I'm sure some people will hate this idea, I would have Messi out of the squad entirely as the 10s look certain to be his decade. Yes, he lit up the end of the 00s, but I think those players who were presences for a longer time throughout the decade in question always deserve preference in the All-Star selection.

The formation is always going to be down to a player's personal style and choices, but the one currently displayed is very out of balance. I actually looks like Maradona's Argentina in the World Cup, cramming the forwards in and playing Di Maria and Maxi in Midfield. It's actually very easy to get a balanced 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 with the players available.

And finally, Makelele will always start in my 00s All-Stars as he defined the role of holding midfielder in this period. It's called 'the Makelele role' for a reason!

Paul Scholes is in neither the 90s all stars nor the 00s all stars and he is good enough to be in the squad of both.

Xavi should be in the first team, Barcelona were massively dominant at the end of the 00s and xavi was at the heart of all that.

instead of gerrard or Mkélélé maybe ? preferably SG8 , he was the best midfielder at his Prime and is amongst the best right now , he was/is a genuis in every positional aspect of the game , phenomenal technical skills , The REAL maestro.
i guess Scholes should have a place here , i just find that theres too many strikers , 4-5 but 7 is way too much even for a 4-3-3 imo .

I think R. Carlos is in the 90s team.

I'd probably take out gerrard for xavi so you still have a pure destroyer in le mak. As for scholes, as you say there are a lot of forwards in the team, I'd drop larsson and bring scholes in.

i'm not sure if i like the fact, that a player can be only in one all star team (i get the idea, though). at the moment there are many players around there 30s who could be in a 2000s team or a 2010 team. (Robben, Lahm, Ribery, Iniesta, C. Ronaldo, Tevez, X. Alonso, Xavi and maybe even pirlo) i think the best example is C. Ronaldo. i really dont know in which team i would put him in? or when you look at the 90s and 2000 team and you see zidane in 90s and figo in 2000s when they are the same age and played in the same team. it just seems not right, the same goes for r. carlos and r9, they were to present in the 2000s to be not in an 2000s all star team
