i think that pizarro is the most successful player of all time, he is the all time non german top scorer of the bundesliga he has gained better trophies than anyone in peru, maybe he is not the best player, but i think this qualifies him to have a place in the 23.

His competence is really difficult. There are two legendary centre-forwards: Teodoro Fernández and Valeriano López.

The first is an absolute legend in Peruvian soccer, one of the greatest South American strikers of his generation (perhaps just only behind Leónidas and Arsenio Erico), the largest historic emblem of Universitario (even over Héctor Chumpitaz), the most prolific average goalscorer of the Peruvian national team (24 goals in 32 matches), the most prolific attacker of the Peruvian league (7 times top scorer) and third historical top scorer of the Copa America (just only behind Norberto Méndez and Zizinho).

The second was a monstrous attacker, a scorer machine that reached one of the highest peak performances for a Peruvian footballer, considered by some experts as one of the best headers in the history of football and one of the most prolific South American average goalscorers (alongside Arthur Friedenreich and Bernabé Ferreyra with an insane record of 207 goals in 199 matches).

Even if we would consider him as forward (as sometimes he plays in the Peruvian national team) the competition is as much or more fierce between legends as Teófilo Cubillas (truly a deep-lying forward), Hugo Sotil (for many the most spectacular Peruvian attacker of all-time) and Alejandro Villanueva (a cult figure of the 30's), without counting some polyfunctional wing-forwards that also shone through the center as Juan Joya and Juan Seminario.

ok, i think that the players in the past are overrated, i think if jose carranza would have played in the past he would be a legend because we did not have the possibility to see him and the people would say that he was an excellent caudillo, "saying this".....
it is not the same get goals against the hungaritos of pacasmayo than get goals with the hamburg or bremen or frankfurt whatever.... that players were almost amateurs and maybe lolo fernandez is a legend of course but he is a legend because what he did in the pacific mixed teams or in the olympic games (well in this case i have to point out that he played against amateurs... because you can see he never defeated "mathias sindelar nor bican, etc...the austrian legends" but a group of amateurs) but he is a legend of course.... but valeriano lopez he made goals against panama, ecuador, mariscal sucre, huracan colombia, BOLIVARIANOS... he is overrated... real madrid wanted him, and ????? you do not know what could have happened with him in real madrid, maybe he could have got only the bench and later being loaned and finished in eibar or castilla or whatever ... (in that case where is loayza he played with barcelona)
