There will always be differences.

G.K. - Gilmar (58-62), Tafarel (90-94-98), Leão (70-74-78-86), Barbosa (50).

I do not understand how they could put Ronaldinho on the list, never won anything as a star. In 2002 he was an adjunct. It's just a clown.
And I'm Brazilian.

You are from Brazil CDDRodrigo. I need your opinion. The great Manga does not deserve to be above Emerson Leao or Barbosa?

A level GK and titles I think it was definitely superior.

Oh yes, Manga was awesome... Maybe he could replace Leão.

CDDRodrigo

Based on what you say that Manga was better than Barbosa or Leão?

Leão went to four World Cups, captained the team. One of the best goalkeepers in Brazil for almost 10 years.

There is a book, "Heroes and Anti-Heroes of one shirt" (Heróis e Anti-Heróis da Camisa 1), it is mentioned several major international and Brazilian goalkeepers. And Manga is not quoted.

zguc:

Ronaldinho will never be a legend. With less than 30 years he is a player in decline. His interests now are the parties and not football.

Didi, Rivelino, Pele, Ronaldo, Romario, Rivaldo, Jairzinho, Garrincha, Gerson. Who would you take the time to put Ronaldinho?

It's just a juggler with the ball. He never played for the national team that played in Barcelona. And if it was so good, the Milan would not be so eager to get rid of it.

Manga was the best of Brazil for over 20 years.
Champion of everything with National Montevideo, International.
It was the 66 World Cup goalkeeper. A legend only in the South American and Brazilian football.
Own a unique and timeless style.

mmm difficult. I leave the cover of the book and I remember that the top of the goalkeeper is Manga.

From 1976, it was defined as day official "date of April 26, in a tribute to goalkeeper Manga, who was then the champion by the Brazilian International.

I have the book.
Manga is on the cover, at the time he played for Botafogo.
Sorry about the sincerity, but championships as the Parana, Mato Grosso and Equador do not represent much. Manga has been released from Botafogo under harsh accusations of João Saldanha, then coach of Brazil.

Leão
* 1969 – Taça Roberto Gomes Pedrosa e Troféu Ramón de Carranza (Palmeiras)
* 1970 – Copa do Mundo (Seleção Brasileira)***
* 1972 – Campeonatos Paulista e Brasileiro (Palmeiras) **
* 1973 – Campeonato Brasileiro (Palmeiras)**
* 1974 – Campeonato Paulista e Troféu Ramón de Carranza (Palmeiras)
* 1976 – Campeonato Paulista (Palmeiras)
* 1980 – Campeonato Gaúcho (Grêmio)
* 1981 – Campeonato Brasileiro (Grêmio)**
* 1983 – Campeonato Paulista (Corinthians)
* 1970-1986 - Seleção Brasileira - 105 jogos.

*** World Cup Champion
** National Champion

16 years in the national team with 105 games !!!!! Holder of two World Cups. What about this?
Leão played basically the axis SP-RJ, while Manga only played for Botafogo and International in the rest of his career was outside major centers.

It's your opinion, I respect but disagree. Moreover in my opinion the two best goalkeepers in Brazil were Gilmar and Taffarel.

To be more equivalent, Zito should be in the squad instead of Socrates. He is the best Brazilian DM of all-time by far.

Although I have different opinion about Ronaldinho but I may understand some people describe him as "one of the best footballer ever"......just because of those shitty tricks which never contribute at big moments...ok I don't agree with them but I get their point

But Kaka????????? WTF? This guy didn't even have a decent performance during his two WCs... and now someone put him in All-time Best 30 Brasil Squad or something?? Gosh you gotta be kidding me......

Hi guys I'm here at first. I'm not an English so excuse me if my english is bad. And that's my opinion about Brazilian all star team:

Best Eleven [4-2-4]
GK - Gilmar
RWB - Djalma Santos
RCB - Carlos Alberto (because he played as CB as well)
LCB - Domingos Da Guia
LWB - Nilton dos Santos
DM - Didi
CAM - Zico
RWF - Garrincha
CF (in the striker role but on the left side) - Ronaldo
RCF - Romario
LCF - Pele

the second eleven: [4-3-3]
GK - Claudio Taffarel
RWB - Cafu
CB - Luis Pereira
LWB - Roberto Carlos
DM (almost like defender. in front of of Luis Pereira) - Mauro Silva
RAM - Zizinho
CAM - Ronaldinho
LAM - Rivelino
RWF - Leonidas Da SIlva
CF - Friedenreich
LWF - Ademir De Menezes

third eleven: [4-4-2]
GK - Marcos
RWB - Jorginho
RCB - Luizinho
LCB - Aldair
LWB - Marinho Chagas
RWF - Julinho
LWF - Canhoteiro
RAM - Ademir Da Guia
LAM - Rivaldo
SS - Jair da Rosa
CF - Tostao

***

More over I want to say why pes put everybody's GK skills on 50? I don't understand. It means if (for example) Bobek have a 20 for defence and 50 for GK skills is it really means that Bobek is better Goalkeeper than defender? So I think that GK skills should be maximum on 20.

My 23 list

Postby thiagojagua » 2010 Dec 31, 19:05

In my opinion:

LEANDRO Ferreira (right-back from 1982's magic Brazilian team) should be in the reserves. Leandro was one of the best crossers of the game's history.

None of the 1st team's midfielders is a destroyer. Brazil had ploblems with that in 1982's WC. I think ZITO should be in the 1st team.

By the way, it's a huge shame, a total offense to Brazilian football RONALDINHO be part of this team while GÉRSON is out. GÉRSON is a legend and played so well in 1970. I strongly recomend you all to watch the Brazilian games of 1970's WC specially the Final when he shone against Burgnich, Fachetti, etc. Ronaldinho played nothing as an international compared to GÉRSON.

SÓCRATES was a fantastic player but I think TOSTÃO had more impact to the Brazilian game.

JAIRZINHO was not a midfielder but a forward. He was a second striker but he was placed as an forward-right-winger in the 1970's NT because Brazil had "just" Pelé as second striker.

And finally ROMÁRIO had a greater impact to the Brazilian NT than RONALDO. ROMÁRIO didn't have Rivaldo to help him in 1994's WC.

***

BTW my 23 list would be:

Goalkeepers:
GILMAR
TAFFAREL

Defenders:
Djalma SANTOS
DOMINGOS da Guia
MAURO Ramos
Nílton SANTOS
CARLOS ALBERTO
LUÍS PEREIRA
LEANDRO

Midfielders:
FALCÃO
DIDI
ZICO
ZITO
GÉRSON
ZIZINHO
RIVELINO
RIVALDO* (AMF or SS; can be midfielder or forward)

Forwards:
GARRINCHA* (usually a WF but played sometimes as SMF in 1958 and as SMF and AMF in 1962)
PELÉ
ROMÁRIO
LEÔNIDAS da Silva
TOSTÃO
RONALDO

Besides, it's a disapointment that great players like:
- ADEMIR DA GUIA
- DIRCEU LOPES
- RAÚL (twice champions of Copa Libertadores, maybe the best Brazilian goalkeeper ever)
- REINALDO
- TONINHO CEREZO (twice elected as the Brazilian best player, he made history in Roma and Sampdoria and was MVP of 1993's Intercontinental Cup)
- RENATO GAÚCHO
- RAÍ (he crashed the Cruyff's "Dream Team" twice on 1992)
- DJALMINHA
- Márcio AMOROSO
- Giovane ÉLBER (he's on Bayern greatest ever squad ahead of Klinsmann)
- ALEX (RONALDINHO was his shadow for a long time)

never made their impact in the NT as they did in their respective clubs.

Good squad, but, just to beautiful (hahaha) you must do a line with Garrincha, Zico and Pelé, the midfield is a little not straight.

Being brazilian, i can say that Taffarel represents really more to Brazil than Gilmar, because of his penalties-stopping in decisive times. Here, just for example, when are there some guys playing soccer for fun, when the GK takes a difficult shot or defends a penalty, everybody say: "VAI QUE É TUA TAFFAREL". He is a simble

Sorry, but Didi never played as a pure Defensive Half, he was a deeplaying playmaker as is Xavi nowadays. Bauer, Zito, Clodoaldo, Toninho Cerezo or also Falcão would be a better fit for the position.
