Went through highlights of York9's season, he either seems to have become a more physical/powerful player or Canadian Premier League is full of BB 60-75 players hhaha. Some nice pace on him now over distance without the ball, and his change of pace is real high sometimes - ACC 84-85 in some instances. Apparently was used in a bunch of attack minded positions in the CPL - but mostly wide mid/winger either side switching with Pallister(?).
He made the 2019 season's XI of the league, and was regarded as one of the best players during the season - on wiki "The Premier Performer presented by Volkswagen Canada is presented to the CPL's top player based on an algorithm developed by the league and its data analysis provider." Telfer ranked 3rd... he had 8 goals & 1 assist in 26 games (2216 mins) in the league and 2 goals & 1 assist in 6 games (478 mins) in the Canadian Championship - worth noting he scored the league's ever first goal and a CPL team's first ever goal against and MLS side (Montreal). 36 Tackles won. 7 "Big-Chances created" (team high). Pass accuracy: 74.50%.
His shooting also stood out to me, had 50 shots (3rd most in the league)/29 on target - and he impressed me with the sheer blast power on some hits a cool finishes on other chances.
He looked good in MLS and its a shame TFC did not believe in him enough to give him more of a shot - 2018 was such a terrible year and he still managed to standout as a good young player. I think he wanted a Europe move - no idea of Cypriot level, but he is really versatile, and physically capable - I'm sure he can perform any role competently...His touch might have gotten even better something to look out for.
Trinidad converted/naturalized him and he plays for them now, which I think is a bit of a loss for Canada, and he should have been capped - would have been a good depth player for the squad if not a starter - I mean they keep playing Mark Anthony Kaye a playmaker at LB ffs...apparently had a brace in 15-0 route of Anguilla - pArItY - and another goal in his debut vs mighty Martinique.
All in all I am a little surprised he was such a dominant player in the newly formed CPL - really tells me a lot about he level of that league (defending/goalkeeping looks worse than USL, technique is actually not bad ... comporable to low end USL maybe) .. but I did expect him to have a good year as to me it was a move down for him - he is capable enough to play in MLS - just needed to find his niche to claim a starting berth.
