I will never like him, i would bench him if i was a red star coach for Pešić, but with two defensive specialists behind him, tactically clever coach who's able to restrict his movement area with the ball, he can be useful. But only if u really like player like him, and only in that case, i would never play him.
What annoys me the most are his up and downs. He pumps many passes and when he is succesfull those passes are not the kind of passes that anyone can pull out. But also his tendency to make 14 key passes per game creates different pictures and sometimes they are horrible. I mean, only few players like Iniesta, Cesc, Pirlo, Messi, Silva are able to send huge amount of key passes with imense accuracy, altough they are much more clever obviously and disciplined in terms of sending those, but this guy has some moments of utter brilliance with passing and some terrible passes both in terms of acc and in terms of idea.
Same with shooting. I will never admit he's a good shooter, he shoots a lot. But when he pulls out the finesse shot that can look very good. Like against Ludogorets and Sparta.
I find Kanga like the reverse version of Özil. Two guys with good key passing ability, one more active than he should be, one much less active. While Kanga interrupts the area of defensive midfieders all the time and goes to the sides, Mesut just walks between the lines waiting for pass to give the key one.
While Özil can't and doesn't shoot, Kanga shoots a lot with changable acc. They are both considered as creators while they are not. Ofcourse Özils passing is waaaay better than Guelors, + even though off the ball he's like a dead horse, with the ball he's more of a team player.
The only thing that is simetrical is their defensive liability
I was never a stats specialist but i was saying that before, this is one of the toughest sets for statsmaking ive ever seen. Some of his qualities are in one moment for whites, in other for oranges.
