Obviously, they tend to play with 3 central midfielders (including at least on who plays defensively) - the squad reflects this with four def/central midfielders in Pirlo, de Rossi, Gattuso and Ambrosini, and three who prefer to play a little higher up the pitch in Aquilani, Perrotta and Cameronesi. Perhaps no more midfielders are needed - that is seven fighting for three positions so there is lots of cover...there also aren't really any more contenders for these places, Montolivo would be the first name, and he's barely been involved.

There is normally one central striker, with two playing behind/wide of him. Toni and Gilardino would be the first two options for the main role, and de Natale and Cassano have been the first choices behind really. Del Piero has been in 6/8 squads so I will add him.

A squad of 22 now. I would probably add another attacking option (probably Pepe), but others may prefer the safety of the additional goalkeeper (de Sanctis), who despite not being involved like Amelia and Buffon, has been picked in every single squad.

Hope this helps if you feel like an update/tweak.

Thanks 8-)

I appreciate your suggestions, but these are based on Euro2008 too, then are obliviously outdated. You forgot a very important thing: we changed CT, now there is Lippi: he hate Panucci, Ambrosini and Cassano, and they will never be called (maybe only Cassano if he will play extremely well).

About Barzagli, he played sh*t in all recent NT matches (if you remember he was in starting 11 in Euro2008 after Cannavaro injury, but Donadoni dropped him after only a match because he played sh*t against Holland)

About Del Piero, it's strange Lippi doesn't call him anymore, he's playing well but Lippi prefer the youngs like Pepe and Rossi, then Del Piero have to play extremely well to be called

hope it's ok now, if you have question just ask me :D

What about your numbers?

Only 18 numbers have been allocated in the recent games - surely if, for example, 19 and 21 were available, Zambrotta and Pirlo would choose these?

only 18 numbers because there were 11 starting and 7 subs, but this is a 23-men team. BTW numbers are based on history ;) for example Zambrotta was always 19, and it's not right to give him for example 2 only because of this NT rule

to be honest I thought to replace Maggio with Legrottaglie, by now we have 5 strikers + camoranesi, with Quagliarella IMO we will have too many attackers ;)

by now Maggio have a bad injury and he will miss all next callups, so I suggest to replace with Legrottaglie who was called sometimes in last months

Hi everyone,

this is my first post on your amazing website and due to my love to Italy (Im from Kuwait), i wanted to update my PES Italy NT to the latest Squad/Formation and share it with all of you.

so here's what i found after surfing more than 12 websites to see the recent updates for the NT. (Numbers not included)

Goalkeepers;

Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus)
Marco Amelia (Palermo)
Morgan De Sanctis (Galatasaray)

Defenders;

Fabio Grosso (OLY. Lyon)
Andrea Dossena (Liverpool)
Salvatore Bocchetti (Genoa)
Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus)
Fabio Cannavaro (Real Madrid)
Alessandro Gamberini (Fiorentina)
Gianluca Zambrotta (Milan A.C)
Marco Motta (Roma)

Midfielders;

Andrea Pirlo (Milan A.C)
Daniele De Rossi (Roma)
Angelo Palombo (Sampdoria)
Riccardo Montolivo (Fiorentina)
Matteo Brighi (Roma)
Pasquale Foggia (Lazio)
Simone Pepe (Udinese)

Strikers;

Fabio Quagliarella (Udinese)
Antonio Di Natale (Udinese) - (Injured)
Vincenzo Iaquinta (Juventus)
Giuseppe Rossi (Villarreal)
Giampaolo Pazzini (Sampdoria)

these are the 23 NT players and hope that someone can get the numbers for us. (i remember some but not all)

About Di Natale, i guess there's no need to replace him because he will be back around before June as doctors said and he may be fully ready for the Confederations Cup, untill then, either you leave him with the NT or replace him with any other player you see fit. (for me its Cassano!!)

Castellaci said Di Natale’s season would over if the 31-year-old needed surgery. “Should he decide for conservative treatment then he could play the last few games of the season,” said the team doctor

Next Reply; Formation and Starting Lineup :)

Formation;

Italy plays 4-3-3 with two wingers and a post player in front.
they mostly use Side Attacks with the R/LSB comming forward
defensive line holds reasonable depth and attempts Offside Trap regularely
wingers sometimes change sides specially if Simone Pepe and Fabio Quagliarella are on the pitch.

Starting Lineup;

GK: Gianluigi Buffon - V.©
RCB: Fabio Cannavaro - ©
LCB: Giorgio Chiellini
RSB: Gianluca Zambrotta
LSB: Fabio Grosso
DMF: Daniele De Rossi
RCMF: Andrea Pirlo
LCMF: Matteo Brighi
RWF: Simone Pepe
LWF: Antonio Di Natale
CF: Vincenzo Iaquinta

Set Pieces;

Penalty: Andrea Pirlo
Long FK: Daniele De Rossi
Short FK: Andrea Pirlo
R/L Corner: Andrea Pirlo
2nd Foul Taker: Fabio Grosso

CB's go forward inside the Box on Set Pieces leaving behind the Shot Taker and one or both SB's.

The players called up to face Northern Ireland are:

Goalkeepers: De Sanctis (Galatasaray), Marchetti (Cagliari);
Defenders: Cassani (Palermo), Dossena (Liverpool), Gamberini (Fiorentina), Grosso (Olympique Lione), Esposito (Lecce), Legrottaglie (Juventus), Santon (Inter)
Midfielders: Biagianti (Catania), Brighi (Roma), D’Agostino (Udinese), Galloppa (Siena), Gattuso (Milan), Montolivo (Fiorentina), Palombo (Sampdoria)
Strikers: Foggia (Lazio), Mascara (Catania), Pazzini (Sampdoria), Pellissier (Chievo), Rossi Giuseppe (Villarreal)

Meanwhile, below is the players already confirmed to take part in the Confederations Cup, Lippi will add another ten names from the previous list to round out the squad.

Goalkeepers: Buffon (Juventus), Amelia (Palermo)
Defenders Cannavaro (Real Madrid), Chiellini (Juventus), Zambrotta (Milan)
Midfielders: Camoranesi (Juventus), De Rossi (Roma), Pepe (Udinese), Pirlo (Milan)
Strikers: Gilardino (Fiorentina), Iaquinta (Juventus), Quagliarella (Udinese), Toni (Bayern Munich)

on 4 june Lippi will make official 23 callups, by now he choose only 13 players, so by now I will switch Di Natale with Quagliarella, Aquilani with Iaquinta and Maggio with Legrottaglie (because they are all injured and surely won't be called for Confederation Cup)

Exciting to see so many new names on here. I'm really hoping the best for Pellissier in his 1st NT cap :D . It's cool to see players from the lesser followed clubs get a chance like Chievo, Catania, Siena & Lecce.

So if I'm to get this straight. So the players called up for Norther Ireland match will be fighting for 10 spots.

So basically:
1 GK: De Sanctis vs Marchetti
1 LB: Dossena vs. Grosso vs. Esposito
1 RB: Cassani vs. Santon
2 CB: Gamberini & Legrottaglie
1 Regista: D’Agostino vs. Montolivo
1 Metodista: Biagianti vs Palombo
1 CMF: Brighi vs. Galloppa vs. Gattuso
1 SS/WF: Foggia vs Mascara vs Rossi
1 CF: Pazzini vs Pellissier

I could see them choosing Dossena over Santon; Mascara or Brighi over Pazzini. They already have so much firepower upfront with Gila, Iaquinta, Quags & Toni....not sure they need another CF. But I'd love for either Pellissier or Pazzini to make the squad.
My guesses for the final spots are in yellow

I would select the same players as you. But i'm not sure about Pazzini, too many CFs, maybe Lippi will call Dossena or D'Agostino (remember Pepe is not a midfielder but a winger).

BTW It will be very bad if D'Agostino will not be called. He has a fantastic season, 100000000000 times better than Pirlo. But Pirlo is a member of 2006 group, so...

the same is for Galloppa-Brighi vs Gattuso and Foggia-Mascara-Pellissier vs Toni; it's a shame he calls his preferred players instead of more useful ones :evil:
