With 77/78 he's fast as well I think. There's no need to raise there something.

I dont agree. Imo, his TS/SA should be 2 point higher and would like to hear more opinions ;)

But I have another point to discuss.
In my opinion his Attack value is too low, cause he has sometimes a good positioning at corners or standards when he hit the ball with his head.
In my OF he has there something about 56-58.

that's true monKevsi!
It is the same story as the Mertesacker Attacking Value.

Updated him.
I raised his passing in general, especially in long passing, sometimes he has really crosses out of the defence and they are with decent power. Otherwise some of those passes can be really horrible and land outside.^^

And I have some points to discuss:
Does he really deserves both stars, *Marking and *Sliding?
In my opinion he must run after his opponent, he just stands on the defence line and isn't so near to the strikers.
And what I know is that *Sliding increases the accuracy of the slides and the frequency of them as well. But in the last games, also in the last season, he rarely made those slides and then only when it's necessary. I tested it out and played against Hamburger SV, Mathijsen without *Sliding. I noticed that he made enough slides as he does it in reality. In my opinion he doesn't deserves both stars
What do you think?

When I watch the whole CB`s of Hamburg I must say he`s the slowest one of all, maybe one of the slowest in the whole BL, but he got an unbeliavable positioning in the defense. In my oppinion he don´t deserve the sliding star and also the m,arking star cause he isn´t so close at the strikers. He`s more a defender in the rooms.

IMO he deserve the D-Line star, cause he got a great positioning. In a on a one he lost a lot of runs.

What does actually D-Line Control mean? In-game it means the player is better in setting the defence line, e.g for offside.
I doubt he should get this star, sometimes the whole defence stands wrong, of course Mathijsen talks, but nobody hears to him. :D
Imo he shouldn't get any stars, he simply a decent defender with sometimes a really good positions and nice tackles, nothing less, nothing more.

Personally, I feel he doesn't deserve D-Line (he isn't a real leader, positioning the off-side trap towards his position and generally keeping the defensive line in one piece) nor the Marking star.

He does deserve Sliding though, as he is really good at performing last moment tackles to snatch the ball from a striker's feet. It's his main weapon in a one-on-one because he often loses out on speed but can afford to do so because he can always fly in with a last-minute sliding on the ball.

Well, it was some seasons ago since I have seen a slide of Mathijsen, nowadays he rarely does one. Also in situations where a slide is needed, he isn't going to do one. Of course, he makes perfect slides, but *Sliding will also increases the frequency of making those slides and there I doubt to give him this star. As I already said without the star he still can make good slides.

I would say his pace is slightly overrated here. I rather see him at something like 76/76 as he is definitely not a fast player.

A bit high is his TECH as well. I do not see him on par with players like Hummels, Dante or Tasci. I would reduce this to 71, which is on par with Mertesacker for instance.

ACC=76
TS=76
TECH=71

Well, 77/78 isn't high, too, but you're right I would decrease both by one point. In acceleration I see him a little bit better as he sometimes tend to make a short boost with the ball combined with a 'dribbling'.^^
For Technique I would let him at 73. The players you mentioned actually have to get a higher value. In my eyes all three should be around 75, because everyone of them has a good first-touch for a defender.
Rozehnal is at 74 and I see Mathijsen under him in terms of technique, so the 73 seems reasonable.

I believe his DA, SPA and SPS is too low. I'm checking the global and Bundesliga ladders to find decent numbers but actually it's a bit hard for me to find right players to compare him with. I think his DA can be par with Friedrich as both players have capacity to hold the ball especially in while starting the attacks from the back. I dunno if there's an upcoming update for Freddy, but DA can be at least 70. For SPA, maybe a value like 73 with 74/75 SPS would be sufficient. I dunno if his ground passes are as good as Demichelis but I'm quite sure he does better job than Neven Subotic who actually rated higher than Mathijsen. Also FKA seems too low maybe it also needs to be standardized. Also I'm not quite sure if his attack shall be lower than Haggui.
