The fast, classy and dribbler (but a bit inmature) Seedorf of the late 90s. I've taken both of his current classic sets as references; the final work is more or less a middle ground between his Ajax days and his early-mid 00s prime era, but I'd say he had already started to evolve into an attacking-focused player.

You can see I've put both his Dribble Accuracy and Technique into oranges. Well, in those years he was a great dribbler, probably (alongside Redondo and Mijatovic) the player with the best close control in the Real Madrid of the late 90s; and he used to take advantage from it, trying mazing runs relatively often. His trapping, although not at Mijatovic's level, had already become excellent, 'taming' difficult balls with relative ease.

His role at Real Madrid could be described as 'playmaker', although to be honest he wasn't really a playmaker and, while being a very important player for the merengues side which won La Liga in 1996/97 and the Champions League in 1997/98, he never really became a pivotal 'field marshall' in a Xabi Alonso sense. His style of play was closer to a creative, yet a bit impulsive sometimes, box-to-box midfielder able to produce excellent passes (also to mess up horribly from time to time) and gifted with a very powerful shot from outside the area. To represent his inmaturity and unconsistancy at passing, I've left his SPA at 84 (one point lower than current-day Mesut Özil). I've also refrained from giving him *Middle shooting or the Long Ranger card because I don't think he shot enough times and with enough profitency to deserve them. In fact, he usually went more for the pass rather than the shoot (hence the *Passing skill), and to be honest he messed up quite a bit at shooting those days (even for close ranges) mostly due to his deficient connections (represented by white Shot Technique).

BB could be lowered to 90 same as the current seedorf. yeah top speed could be increased by a couple of points ormaybe more. nothing higher than 85.
also, SP could be lowered by one point to 95.

At Ajax (and the Dutch) national team he played in a more defensive role then ever around that period. I have to say that 72 is quite high but he really was a balance midfielder, maybe even a tad more defensive then offensive.

Maybe he was but 72? Classic Davids is 75 and he was far more superior DMF then Seedorf for sure there must be more then 3 points gap between them.
If Seedorf was balanced midfielder DEF 62 (as he has at milan) is fine because for a CMF or AMF its actually realy high numer
If you think he should be rated higher then put it, lets say 64-65

A month ago or so I made a set for his R. Madrid (1996 - 99) era. Here you have it, explanations included.

Looks pretty good, I'd see SP a bit higher though. Thoughts on the set anyone?

Looks good. Epsi also made a set for 06-08 Seedorf in his thread which I like, especially higher attack and the reasoning he gave for it. Seedorf has always impressed me with his vision/intelligence

Epsi wrote:I always considered Seedorf as a player with a player with an awesome attacking intelligence.. I considered also the new way of rating attack (my original value was 80), not just by attack positioning but also attack in correspondence to passes and to decisions <- Seedorf was a beast between 2006 and 2008 on these to me.. especially on decision making, just watch the goal against Bayern in CL 2007 and the eventual assist to Pippo for the 0-2.. that Milan is primary remembered for the alien Kakà, but there were a lot of player on a really high level that year.. Seedorf, Inzaghi, Pirlo, Gattuso, even Oddo was a decent sideback as to defence I remember he didn't have particular defensive duties as AM, but I don't think he changed his skills so much during the years..

Added 1996-98 set. Epsi's one for 2006-08 seems pretty nice, we could include it too.

Prime and earliest sets need a revamp BTW.

Shot Power could be even higher, attack probably warrants a higher value.

The set for his Madrid days is a bit underrate in my opinion. He's just as goos as the early Milan set. He was always a beast on dual, resist against everybody even Blanc who push him during 5 seconds against Barcelona. He had a rocket, really amazing shot. He's just a bit faster, may be less speed in his SPS but really not that much.

I already saw a bit of him during the 1998WC, could watch more. But with this vs video and the video of his Madrid days, we can see it. I give him an update but really I'm not sure both set are that much necessary, he's just the same player.

They have eyes but cannot see; they have ears, but cannot hear; they have tongues, but cannot speak. They are like cattle.
