the scoreline doesn't matter, it's the ability to keep up with madrid and just show ability. barcelona could lose 4-0 to madrid. it's here you'll see the contrast between players abilities, if you say kannemann is an 84 bb for example but carvajal clearly outduels him physically, you'll know that he's too high, and the afa standard is too high. That's just an example, not something i believe.
If you don't put effort into your post, i won't put effort in my response.

His right foot is really bad.. has problems to give all the passes, even the easy ones, Yépes should be the number 2 imo, he can't

That's true; but Kannemann is between the best afa cbs atm and against the Madrid monsters probably he can't do anything, I'm convinced that he's going to europe and with time there he could be in that level, but I don't think right now.., also, as Victor said, is only a game, I hope will be the best game of his life, but also couldn't be.. I don't think Caravajal can move him, even I have doubts if Benzema can jaja

He's got a very physical style, always near of the foul or going to each ball like the last, using too much force.. that can be a great problem against Madrid, is very easy for the referees mark a foul for Madrid; the referee yesterday was a really disaster..

Vickingo wrote:Btw San Lorenzo must beat Auckland City today, I guess they will win but having the experience of Mineiro vs Raja Casablanca and Internacional SC vs Mazembe, I can't say anything like that anymore.

Was near..

Since long time that I didn't saw a cb with his physical force and tenacity.. he's a monster and all what you need in a cb is here.
I'd like to see vinnie's view about his match against Madrid.

Should I move him to _mex Atlas? Wtf with this move, he does deserve to play in Europe, at least in a 2nd line team. Even Riquelme said Kannemann was the best in WC Club Final.

Yes, is official.. I can't believe it really, we have a NT player potentially and we give him for only u$s 1.000.000, seems there was problem for renew his contract, what shit.

Btw, I have almost all his matches from this tournament, I'll post them soon.

Such a great player. A monster in the field, gives everything. Fitted so well beside Geromel, one complete the other. For me, the best CB's at south america. Geromel very technical, and Kannemann a true warrior. I would increase his mentality in 2 points.

I agree. He and Geromel were both two monsters in this season. Can't believe that they aren't on their NT's. Both should be at 2018 WC.

Against Real Madrid, even Grêmio being very inferior in the midfield and attack, Geromel and Kannemann were simply perfect. They won every ball. Amazing CB's.

I dontt agree, in fact they made a great game but this type of argument makes it seem that if "the midfield or attack had worked" Grêmio could win the game. By far, its is very far from the reality since to have all this "security" defensive that had, Grêmio didn't attack, didn't create chances and even can't shoot a ball to goal. By sacrificing the main quality of the team that is precisely the offensive game, possession intense ball style and dynamic movements/infiltrations logically the players would potencilize the whole defensive system of the team, since they abdicated to play soccer to just play in a "defense vs attack game" without any tool/method to try the goal. That doesn't detract from the merit of they having fulfilled jobs that was only to avoid the goal. But valuing this is very, very poor since the team in general went only with this concept, so because of this the centralbacks had won a thousand chances of them being more successive in the jobs.

The two are great centralbacks but rightly value for see only the individual of each player and ignore a whole system and the concepts belonging to that system, or even this extreme separation of "defense/midfield/attack" and not see that a team it is precisely the union, the interaction between these unions and the strength that each of these three factors has over the other, certainly creates this romanticism that limits the perception of analyzing what football is as a game - real game- and this propuse a lot of influence because why football in Europe are quite different from the rest of the world, obviously it has the best ones individually but the concept is analyzed by the game system/model and not just the individual player or the individuality of each sector, because that composes just one part of the team... even more in this case of a great team offensively, within the logical limit, that is naturally more defensively exposed but in this game abdicated of any form of attack to have extreme defensive security, and also logically, much more difficult to attack (even more without some real concept and fleeing from his main characteristic), obviously that the defensive system was greatly helped, especially the CB's.

Re: Walter Kannemann

???
I didn't said nothing of that. Grêmio played pretty bad that match. But Geromel and Kannemann were both great. Just this.

Btw, he was the man of the match yesterday against Independiente, played even better than Geromel. Won just every ball. Such a beast, never gives up. And he can win in the air against much taller players than him. Sampaoli was watching the game, and it will be such a shame if Kannemann doesn't goes to the WC. He's better than most of Argentina's CB's.

Spoiler: show

This was against São Luiz
