The set I suggest.

Siem de Jong

Length: 185 cm - Sometimes I think he could be even slightly taller (like 187..., but all sources say 185 so I guess thats right)
Weight: 76 kg

Maybe I even forgot box-to-box, what do you think about giving him this card?

I am not sure. He isnt the awesome passer as he should be as a classic no 10 I guess. Neither is he the playmaker or the "centre of the game" where the Ajax play is founded on (as it was with Litmanen, Sneijder or van der Vaart). For me he is an box to box midfielder with an good eye for the goal, good work ethic, good heading ability, an great first touch and a better vision then your average box to box player.
I think we could update his Stamina and mentality. He never lets his team down and chases opponents and goal keepers all game through. UEFA CL statistics show he is the Ajax player who covered the most ground in both matches vs Dynamo Kiev. I wouldnt object to STA 85 and MENT 84.

Defence seems a little too low as attack seems too high. He has good attack position but I think it could be slightly lower as it makes him too effective with this value.

I think he should have SS or CF instead of CM. Siem under Jol was an attacking midfielder but now under Frank de Boer he's been playing as a centre forward, which seems to suit his skill set better. It's only been 2 games but it looks like he is preferred at CF over Moonie (El Hamdaoui).

I think CF can be added to his positions, not SS. He acts more as an CF from my point of view. I don't know about keeping CMF. I think AMF should still be his main position though. I don't think CF suits him better than CF. But perhaps he acts more like a CF than El Hamdaoui. El Hamdaoui is more a SS, playing more like Suarez who also isn't a CF like player.

AMF should be his registered position without a doubt, but like Eriksen who has the SS postion, when going forward from AMF he tries to link and get past the CF (or SS in El Hamdaoui/Suarez's case). SS in my view is a support player who links the team when attacking, which de Jong does. So maybe he should have: AMF*, CF (CMF, SS) the brackets meaning optional.

I can live with these positions. AMF*, CF (CMF, SS) seems ok.
Although I'm still not too sure if he would play realistic as Siem de Jong as a SS.

About his defence,
his brother Luuk who is more of an attacker has 51, Siem who is more of a midfielder has 48.
Are these values correct?

I think I could see him with CF as one of the secondary positions (AM*, CF, CM?). Not so much SS I guess. And yes, his DEF could go up to mid-50s I think.

STA/SP/RESP all could go up IMO.:
STA: 84
SP: 84
RESP: 85

And 2011 cards suggestions:
P15 – Free Roaming (CM, SM, AM, SS) (Offensive)
A player with a keen eye for goal who surges forward at any given opportunity.

S01 – Marauding
The player will regularly run in behind the defence and go for goal.

These 2 look clear to me.
S05 – 1-touch play
Improves the player’s first touch when passing and shooting.

Not too sure about this one, but what do you think? Doesnt hesitate to try 1-touch shots or passes, but he isnt exactly the best technician so sometimes it doesnt end up working out as he was hoping for.

The Defence values of Siem and Luuk could be switched around. Luuk needs an update anyway, I don't think his set accurately displays the player he is right now (even got called up for Oranje due to Van Persie not being fit yet, he's developed a great deal at Twente this season).

I don't know about the Response raise, he's quite good at it but I don't know how we should combine that with Roda's Janssen, who's responsively probably the best around in the league right now in terms of offensive movement. I agree to the minor Stamina and SP raise though, especially SP. He's showed he can shoot some power surging beauties from distance now and then.

Free Roaming and Marauding are no-brainers but I don't believe he needs the 1-touch Play card, he generally doesn't shoot a large amount of volleys and isn't the type of player that'll go for an acrobatic shot out of nowhere. Passing is, by large, not that much influenced by the card.

I'd go with AM*, CM, CF Like i said previously he's not so much an SS but the way he plays as a forward he drops deeper and lets people get passed him.

as for the stat raises I'd agree with AB but instead of RES how about raising his MENT?

Free Roaming and Marauding cards for certain, but also Chasing Back for when he plays as a CF. He regularly gets involved in harassing the opposition as a CF.

Good call on the Chasing Back card there, answ3r. Could definitely be applicable in his case.

On the position, CF should be there.

Good suggestions those recent posts. I agree he shouldn't have SS as a position. Just AMF*, CMF, CF
