Schaars (and Fides) are profing me wrong (takes a big man to admit it  ), he is playing more then descent since his arrival in Lisbon. And has reached a far higher level then at AZ. This was really the motivation he was looking for. Im glad for him that he found it. Having that said i think a raise in DA is needed, not just needed its a must. He almost never looses posession.

Schaars is a 100% TW player. Always chooses the best solution (most of the time the easiest aswel). Has become more of a fighter, he tackles a lot more.

Update!

Not only for the national squad, he also played 1, 2 or 3 times LB at Sporting when Sporting faced a red card or needed more men upfront. Will update soon ;) .

Does he still behaves as a *CENTER, while playing as LB?

Don't know actually what exactly happens when you give *centre to a SB.

Well, something must happen... otherwise, that card wouldn't be available for that position.

No, it wouldnt. Long ranger not at all, because he almost never shoots.. at Sporting he does it a little bit more, but he isnt a real shooter from himself. He doesnt passes enough to warrant that card. He always chooces the simple passes. Almost never tries a through ball. 1 touch is a possability, but if Schaars would deserve this card a lot of players would too. So to say this short, he doesnt need those cards :) .

Updated looking at the Liga Sagres ladders and global ladders, specially passing wise.

For a player who is reliant on his "intelligence":
Attack: 71
Defence: 68
Response: 79

Seem a bit low.

ATT is creating danger, and since Stijn is a pretty "silent" player, he's not very dangerous...
DEF is tackling, so little intelligence there...
And RES is chasing loose balls, so that's more style than intelligence...

Att and Def definitely deserve to be a bit higher I think. Resp I'm not sure, but a slight raise could be justified.

Stijn demonstrated in the Liga Sagres/Europa League that he almost can't create danger. The reason it seems better, is simple. Its the same reason how Graziano Pelle is able to score 27 goals in a season. In general Dutch teams can't defend.

Stijn is a connecting player, his passes are pretty much always accurate (very simple aswel). But creating danger..? No.

I think this guys passing is more about his TW than his passing skills.

Schaars is looking like a 70 TS, maybe even slower.
