He produced a fine display against England. Okada would be mad to start with ropey old Narazaki or Kawaguchi over him.

I think, as a lot of you, I saw today's match against Cameroon. Despite, Japan won, this GK didn't impress me. Perhaps I would made a mistake, judging only in 1 game, but he is too underrated.
Some suggestions:
Mentality 82 - 2 = 80 (he was too nervous)
Defence and Keeper Skills: 82 - 1 = 81 (he is too weak at positioning. If only Cameroon had made more crosses, the result was absolutely opposite)

Saved 4/4 (100%) 1-on-1 Situations not to mention the pre-World Cup friendlies...I'll consider adding the star.

Very good World Cup. Oliver Kahn was impressed :

Fifa Question:

Who has been the best goalkeeper of the tournament so far?

Oliver Kahn wrote:I can’t really decide on anyone at this point. Gianluigi Buffon, who I think is the world’s best goalkeeper, was injured and barely played. Iker Casillas of Spain, Sergio Romero of Argentina and Brazil’s Julio Cesar have not really been properly tested yet. The Nigerian goalkeeper made some very good saves, but he couldn’t keep it up. I also like the Japanese goalkeeper a lot – he’s unusual, extrovert, plain crazy.

OMG ! Looks like he signed for the newly prompted Belgian side Lierse SK, leaving a prestigious club to join such a mediocre club/league is beyond my understanding !! Image

I hope he won't stay there for long time...

Moved anyway.

No disrespect intended but I am just calling a horse a horse.

Belgium itself isn't assured to exist in the near future actually.

I'm sure that Liege and Anderlecht would reign supreme in the J-League ;)

Play the first roles, surely. ;) Rule supreme, I don't think so. The top 4-5 teams in J. League worth at least (in terms of quality) an average Bundesliga side, they might be slightly inferior in terms of goalkeeping and defending but that's all. Lierse for instance would be overwhelmed in no time if they play against Kawasaki, they will very likely concede 5 or 6 goals.

Their defense is so terrible and amateurish, Kawashima can't possibly have good stats, they have only won a single game so far.

Could have been worse without him however, made some sick saves, he won't have too much trouble finding a better side if they get relegated :

That was a soft euphemism apparently, Lierse conceded 7 goals yesterday !! I don't think he ever conceded 7 goals in two consecutive games with Frontale, let alone a single one.

Korea - Japan semi-final was yesterday, he saved 2 penalties, not the first time he does that, he is definatly penalty stopper!!

Kawashima saved Lampard's PK in pre-WC match too. (Lampard has PK taker card)

But, how do you rate Paraguay 5 -3 Japan?

Yeah, he is developing skills when it comes to stop penalties but he's still not as good as Narazaki or Kawaguchi in this area.

One of his best assets is his mental strength. He conceded a goal at such crucial time in the conditions we know and yet he stops two consecutive penalties few minutes later. He has such passion for the game, reminds of me of Schmeichel. (Not talent-wise obviously but more about his attitude).

Nishikawa is calmer and very cool headed but he doesn't have as much character, he is more likely to yield to pressure.

I saw him 2 times vs Panathinaikos, watched him also some years ago with NT, imo he is not so good at handling. GK Skills is ok with 77-79.
RES is still very good, he has quick feet yes but i dont think he should have greens.
Defence could be 1-2 points lower.

Only saw the 1st game but I agree with you. He looked a bit shaky.

Maybe you mean EXP or TS here?
