erm... WHY IS DI STEFANO NOT IN THE TEAM??

I understand that he also played for Spain and Colombia(?) but he was still Argentinian.

But he got over 30 caps for Spain and only 6 for Argentina.

Jorge Valdano is a major omission here. He was arguably the greatest contributor to Argentina's second World Cup title along with Maradona of course and Oscar Ruggeri in defense.
I have returned to the Classics section after a longer break. I am currently working on a list of Danish players from the 90s.

My bad forget to add him to the reserves when I was changing the team around and adding 'La Maquina' to the first 23.

hi brezza in 2000 a survey of 100 leading figures of argentine football elected carlos"lucho" sosa as the best right back of the history in their country. He liked to attack down the right flank and despite being a defender earnt the nickname of "the bailerina" for his graceful mouvements with the ball .With a great physical presence sosa's virtually nullified the left winger "the wing which always follow me back " he liked to say this without recourse to the strength . He was also responsable of all free throws for the right sector. He was infinitely superior to jorge olguin

Remember its not always the best players. But the players that were most important/influential in the national teams history. For example Di Stefano was probably Argentina second best player ever after Maradona, but hardly played for Argentina so he wasn't chosen

I understand your logic. However Di Stefano didn't do much for Spain either, but at least he was a major contributor for Argentina to win the Copa America in 1947. I am sure he would rather play with his idols like Jose Moreno and Pedernera in the all time team.

Bernabe Ferreyra? Perfume for? and Alfredo Di Stefano? Juice with Spain was true but the Argentine to the core.
Riquelme and Veron doing there? Lack Guillermo Stabile and Messi still does nothing for the selection, does not deserve to be there. And alternate Valdano?? We're all crazy ...

What about Bochini? The greatest player for Atletico Avellaneda of all time. I know his contributions to the NT wasn´t much compared to his Aletico´s career, but anyway, he was in the ´86 Word Cup winning squad. He was Maradona´s personal idol, he used to call the guy "Maestro", for God´s sake! Really a player to take into account.
It takes nothing to join the crowd, it takes everything to stand alone

I think the link to Riquelme should be to the current Riquelme rather than the young fellow in Boca. Or maybe, at a later stage, a classic Riquelme of Villareal. But the current Riquelme is not too different to what i'd envisage of him in Villareal...so maybe when he retires a Villareal version of him could be made...maybe.

I disagree that this Juan Roman Riquelme. The abandonment of selection, 2 times, it is not done.

hi brezza you should read the explanation of acquarius regarding Antonio Sastre into the all time argentinian squad of dearmann (this guy dechire don't know if it says like that in english : he is very strong ;) ) but in this case aquarius explain very well the reasons of the relative ignorance on antonio sastre (the argentinian official history was wrote and controlled by "the graphic" magazine (el grafico ) and many journalists who worked there were river's fans like the owner ....... :!: acquarius rate Sastre also high than me http://www.google.fr/url?sa=t&ct=cltr&c ... n0JxVc1iJA this guy was so strong that when river faced Independiente Moreno was forced to drop in midfield to mark Sastre ......in sao paulo he explained when you find old supporters and begin to talk of Sastre many of them ... begin to cry ...... i've read about football since so long years everytime i read (not very often ) about Sastre in old france Football or other magazines his name made tilt in my mind (with the explanations of acquarius i understand better some things ..... ). i have often seen his name quoted as one of the greatest player ever in Argentina ..... in fact i love this kind of things : i mean is just a part of verity but she allowed to get closer .... and Corbatta is the greatest right winger ever over there no doubt ..... http://www.google.fr/url?sa=t&ct=cltr&c ... 2MNYMA_1mw
