Rúben Neves

Postby PES Stats Database » 2015 Oct 27, 13:06

Image

Description:
He has drawn comparisons to Pirlo and Busquets by teammate Christian Tello. In Portugal he is referred to as a "predestinado" (or “born footballer”), an allusion to the fact that this youngster is blessed with innate and superior footballing skills and intelligence.
His flawless positional sense, excelent vision and speed of thought are matched with an above-average technique, especially his passing. Not only is he very accurate and possesses extensive passing range but he passes quickly as well, a trait that makes him even more valuable and a rarity in football nowadays.
His ability to read the game and tactical awareness means that he is always involved and has plenty of time on the ball.
Neves usually sits in a deep lying playmaker role and is tasked with dictating the pace of play. Assured under pressure, he has the necessary maturity and composure to consistently make good decisions. He reads play well and positions himself adeptly to intercept or otherwise break up opposition attacks, doing it in a brave way.

On top of all this, Neves is a natural leader and a vocal presence on the field.
Having bypassed both the U19s and the B team, after a season in the U17s he was called up to the first team squad by Julen Lopetegui, ahead of the start of last season. He was named in the starting eleven for Porto’s opening match vs Marítimo. Not only did he score the opening goal (becoming Porto’s youngest goalscorer ever), he also grabbed the man-of-the-match award.
Although not a regular starter in the campaign, in total the midfielder made an impressive 37 appearances, consistently upping his game.

To add to his impressive record, Neves beat Cristiano Ronaldo to become the youngest Portuguese player to play in the Champions League, aged 17 years, 5 months and eight days. And on the 20th October 2015 (FC Porto 2 – 0 Maccabi tel Aviv) he became the competition’s youngest ever captain.

Sky is the limit for this young man, who at the age of 18 already has the world at his feet.

I'll remove ★ Passing. Can't quite understand why I assign it in the first place. Must have been the excitement.

Neves action area is basically in the middle of the park and not so much at the end zone, but that star seems to affect passing around the pen box.
★ Playmaking is enough to emulate his style.

Great SPA/SPS on this one.
Everyone knew it was impossible. Then came along a fool who didn't know it, and he did it.

He's improving a lot since he joined Wolverhampton under Nuno Espirito Santo command.
From the few games i saw of him, he is getting better at passing skills but specially at shooting. I think you should review some values like Place Kicking (way better than 74) Ball Control, Kicking Power, Shot Accuracy and Dribble Accuracy.

Im so curious about what he can do next season in Premier League, is getting better and better

Indeed, his passing range looks especially impressive to me. Could develop into a red SPS player.
Scored another banger this week by the way.

As premier league debuts go, a pretty good one, not that there really was any doubt, oozes quality, will be playing for a top team in no time at all. Don’t think I’ve made any changes to the set yet but I can see a few raises already

Next Pirlo.
FK's aside (if he practices as much as Pirlo tho who knows..), he has the same potential to reach Jorginho (now at Chelsea) or even Pirlo as a DMF playmaker.
And he is in a real good form, even when the team is not doing that good he doesn't mess up.
Wolverhampton has a really interesting team this year with a lot of good players that will be even better in the years to come, nice team to watch.

Want to leave a few thoughts on him here. His DA is really tidy and nice. See him sitting 80 at least with a low DS since he really can operate effectively under pressure and create a bit of separation to pick a pass. He’s got two signature moves, tapping a bouncing ball around a defender, or going a pull back turn and changing the direction. Another thought is that his standing tackling is very smooth. 68 is probably good, but could sit on 70 comfortably. Further, he’s a tough little SOB and mentality can sit high greens since he’s always been an on the pitch leader or captain at such a young age. Finally, long ranger definitely should be tacked on. It’s his specialty. He doesn’t always have a ton of accuracy, but can hit a mean shot from distance and keeps the keeper honest.

This video does a really good job showing his tackling and passing attributes. I’ll highlight below Times to see certain attributes.

Tackling:
0:29, 0:47, 1:04, 1:25, 2:15, 2:48, 3:26, 4:17, 4:35, 4:59, 5:20, 6:23, 6:50, 7:20, 7:42, 7:48, 7:53, 9:04

Long shots: 0:52, 2:25, 2:50, 3:33, 6:33, 7:10, 9:06

DA: 1:05, 1:30, 1:35, 2:01, 2:09, 2:19, 2:39, 3:03, 3:23, 3:28, 3:44, 4:01, 4:06, 4:43, 4:51, 4:54, 5:11, 5:22, 5:40, 5:44, 6:50, 7:00, 7:32, 8:07, 8:13, 8:20

SPA: 2:35, 4:20, 5:13, 5:57, 6:17, 6:46, 8:23

LPA: 1:12, 3:09, 3:53, 4:00, 4:42, 5:39, 5:48, 6:23, 8:52

Recommendation sums
Def: 70
Resp: 81 intercepts a ton
DA: more I see it 83 might fit, but 80 minimum
SPA: 83 is fine for consistency, but he can pull off 86 range on occasion
LPA: 85 is good for him
Ment: 79 or so

This guy is so good. United could very well look at him in the future. Box-to-box player for me, who has a specialized role at Wolves. Don't agree at all with the Jorginho (as we've known him the last four seasons), much less Pirlo. Neves plays the ball forward more directly, and recycles it.

Will be interesting to see Kessie joining him and Moutinho in the middle. Legit big-time trio, all players made to play in the top 6.
