Yeah! Let's take off Sastre from the team who won 3 Copa América and use Kempes as LMF! Also we shouldn't use a holding midfield and we could use 5 strikers. What about taking off Perfumo too? He's too old.

am sure you know a lot more than me about your NT, so my apologys for taking Sastre out... i dont know him...

i know Perfumo was probabbly better player, but Ruggeri was IMO more important for the NT. played 3 wc's ans the main CB. and 3 wc's wher Argentina reached 2 WC Finals.

And Kempes in the 78 WC did played as a Lelf Attacking Midfielder in a 3 man midfield... as this was the number '10' main position in that era, just before the 'Mediapuntas' took more protagonist. i think Bochini was the first number 10 who played as 'Mediapunta' am i wrong. then of course came Diego Maradona... Messi, etc.

also i think there is no way Messi, from such a poor performance in the final stage of the WC (last 4 matches) could deserve a place in the starting XI... to watch him walking all the 2nd half and extra time in a WC final... and having the WC bes player award... thats so embarrasing for him...

pd. having 12663 posts, you could be less arrogant respoonding.

Just wondering where Mascherano would rank among the great defensive midfielders of Argentine history? Seems like the type of player who will be appreciated more in hindsight when old sods like me look back on former players, but that's not to say he can't be acknowledged here and now by us does it? Can't exactly argue with his record. What's the Argentine perspective?

Can someone explain me something? How is this guy Bochini in the first 23? Let's look at the statistics related to the Argentine national team - 28 games 0 goals and he plays amf,ss :?
Osvaldo Ardiles - 52 games 8 goals
Diego Simeone - 106 games 11 goals
I think it's obvious injustice to them,he is without doubt one of the best players at Independiente but just too little is done for Argentina to be found even in the first 32

Well, we all love Masche, even more after 2014 WC (and believe it or not, he's way more loved than Messi in the country "in general")...he's the player with more matches played in the history right? Or not still? But yeah, as all of these players he didn't win anything in the NT aside Olympics and U-20 WC.

Is there any explanation why Gallego isn't in the squad?

Yeah, but that's because in Classic teams there's a double standards in these kind of the teams lots of times...what are we supposed to take into account? Quality of players or relevance in the country/NT? If it's for the first choice, for sure he should be part of it because he was one of best amf's emerged in argentinian history; taking into account second perspective (imo the most accurate), absolutely not. He was ignored by coaches because of other insane talents of his era like Alonso or Diego for case.

I assume your referring to the formation? I'm pretty sure 3 AMF stretched across the pitch is what is listed there, considering Moreno was an inside forward type player.

You know you can use your own formation in game, there is no rule that you must use what is in first post ;p ...try pluging in a historical formation from 1978 or 1986 and see how the pieces fit then, it can be more fun.

I've wondering the same for a long time. I think that Bochini shouldn't be in the team. I know, he's a legend, and nobody can argue about his talent. But this team should be - as its name says - Classic Argentina, not Classic AFA/Argentinian League. Of course, is just an opinion, and I have no idea who could take his place lol

Maybe Masche wouldn't be a bad choice, considering the number of matches and his recent leadership inside the NT. Other players could be:

-Domingo Tarasconi.
-Manuel Seoane.
-Carlos Peucelle.
-Norberto Méndez.
-René Pontoni.
-Ángel Perucca.
-Néstor Rossi.
-Diego Simeone.

All of them won trophies and had a very important role, opposite than 'Bocha'.

There hasn't been any concensus about it. I think I asked for that in the past and had no response. If most representative NT players in terms of trophies or matches or best players.

I think it should be NT iconic players considering trophies/matches. A poll could solve it :?

Simeone should be there over bochini either way, not only one of the best midfielders we ever pproduced, but a staple for the NT and whether club he played

Marzolini only won club titles, and Sorín won 1995 U-20 World Cup and Panamerican Games the same year. Tarantini could replace one of them, considering he's a world champion (1978) and played 61 matches for NT. Maybe Olarticoechea (1986 World Champion & 1990 finalist) could get into the team.

Simeone or Burruchaga too could take Bochini's place, attending to their respective performances and achievements.
