From what I've seen this season he's looked shocking defensively. It seems every time an opposition team is on the attack, he completely looses his head. He leaves the rest of his defence and rushes forward into midfield to confront the man on the ball. It wouldn't be so bad if he actually won the ball but he doesn't, so all he achieves is leaving a huge hole in the centre of defence for the opposition to go and score (and this season that's exactly what they tend to do!). On that basis I guess that would make him response>defence? Overall quality of the set looks too high also.
Granted it's mainly only highlights I've watched of Newcastle this season, but it's stuck out to me when I've seen them. This set looks like it should be a classic for when Newcastle finished 5th a couple of seasons ago. He looks miles away from it now though.
