Jorge Filipe Monteiro, SC Beira-Mar

Postby PES Stats Database » 2014 Mar 25, 14:48

Spoiler: show
Jorge Filipe Monteiro is a Portuguese winger who started his career at the youth teams of FC Porto and played for almost all Portuguese youth National Teams.
Surprisingly for him, he didn't make an appearance for the first team there, and he didn't even had the opportunity to train with the first team, unlike most of his teamates.
Monteiro spent most of his time there out on loan to low-league Portuguese teams.
He made his first permanent move in the summer of 2010 to Santa Clara playing 27 games and scoring 4 goals in his first season, impressing Pambos Christodoulou, the coach of AEL Limassol and convincing him to join his revolution at Limassol for a transfer fee of approximately €100,000.
In his first season with AEL, he was one of the key players as the team won the Cypriot Championship after 44 years. In the next season he played a major part as the team played in the Europa League for the first time in their history and reaching the final of the Cypriot Cup. However, it was commonly believed that he lacked goals.
The next season, 2013-14, it was the season when he started scoring goals and he couldn't stop, scoring 18 goals in 34 league appearances filling the gap left after Orlando Sa was sold to Legia Warsaw, as the team lost the league in the final matchday Vs APOEL.
Jorge Monteiro was included in various articles about possible Portuguese players that can be called-up for the 2014 Brazil World Cup, but he was never called-up.
At the end of the season, he was selected in the best eleven of Portuguese players playing abroad with Cristiano Ronaldo on the wings.
During and after the season, he received interest from various clubs, including many Russian, Portuguese clubs, Wisla Krakow and Legia Warsaw and Cypriot rivals APOEL.
Monteiro reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement with APOEL Nicosia towards the end of the season, but changed his mind after fan violence in the final matchday Vs APOEL, when the game stopped and repeated without fans.
In June 2014, he signed as a free-agent for newly promoted Portuguese team Moreirense F.C.(a decision he later regretted) as a surprise to everybody, as he could have found a much better team after his fantastic season.

I know.
I don't know what happened. The same happened with Christos Theophilou who is registered as Greek instead of Cypriot.

Attack: 75(+2) His Attacking positioning is better than this. Even though he is a winger, he plays regularly in the box to finish goal scoring opportunities and that's why he is one of the League's top scorers.
Header Accuracy: 73(+10) His Heading can rise by much. He scored a number of nice headers recently, like his two headers Vs Anorthosis. Video: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1rkom ... 4-3_travel
Dribble Accuracy: 82(+1) He is better a little bit better at dribbling and it can rise by one point.
Response: 75(+5) This can also rise by much. He showed nice Response in making runs into the box.
Defence: 40(-8)
Defence Awareness: 1(-1) I think that his defensive workrate can fall to one. He rarely tracks back to defend-and he isn't good at it- and it's one of his biggest weaknesses.
Weak Foot Frequency: 4(+1) His weak foot is actually good, he use it fairly often.
Tenacity: 75(+2) He wasn't much of a fighter
Aggression: 83(+8) He is a bit like Aloneftis(Aloneftis has 85 Aggresion) but not so much. Both wingers, but both play often inside the box and they are kind of SS.

How is he doing in Portugal?
From what I found on the internet he has played only 2 games so far this season... due to an injury or something else?

Released fron _por Moreirense FC, after playing just two games.
Most probably, he is on his way back to Cyprus, possibly for APOEL Nicosia.

I think that he changed his game style quite a bit in recent years.
Once a very fast and tricky winger, especially when he firstly came to Cyprus for AEL in 2011.
However, in recent times, although he is still a quality winger, I don't believe that he is as quick, agile and good at dribbling as he used to be.
He remains a very useful "tool" to have on the wings, experienced and can "work" the flanks well and help the full-backs make overlapping runs forward, still pretty quick, likes to cut-inside, and obviously he is still a very dangerous player in the box to finish chances, able of scoring goals.

Dribble Accuracy: 80 (-2)
Short Pass Accuracy: 73 (+1)
Swerve: 77 (+3)
Ball Control: 78 (+1)
Weak Foot Accuracy: 5 (+1)
Explosive Power: 81 (-1)
Dribble Speed: 79 (-3)
Top Speed: 80 (-1)
Body Balance: 73 (+1)
Acceleration: 80 (-2)

He had 2 chances to score a goal against Olympiacos, his finishing was very poor in both occasions. 1 per foot.

Haven't watched him playing for Iraklis yet, but, in my opinion, his finishing&decision-making depends massively on his confidence and form.
When he was playing in Cyprus, especially in his last Season at AEL LImassol(2013-14) and the first six months(last Season) at AEK Larnaca, his finishing was fantastic, and he was regarded as one of the best, if not the best, Wingers at finishing in the whole League, scoring many goals.
That's was mostly due to the fact that he was recognized as the "star" player of the team and his confidence levels were extremely high going into goal-scoring opportunities and that's why he was doing really well.
However, when he was outside his "comfort-zone", for example when signing for Moreirense last Season and this season at AEK Larnaca when he lost his starting-place in the team, he was struggling, not only with finishing chances, which is one of his key attributes, but struggling in general, for example, also, at dribbling and crossing.

He is talking the Left Corner kicks, vs AEL tried 3 or more times to score directly.
Seems LPS +1,+2 and Curl ++
