now this is a NT for which we might never get full stats ... most player aren't allowed to leave the country ... so clearly they can't play for foreign teams ... that limits a bit their overall progress :P

You've just got to laugh when you see the phrases "Democratic" and "Republic" being associated with North Korea. History has proven that any country whose name has both of these words in it's name are anything but a democratic republic. Just take a look at the Democratic Republic of Congo, or the German Democratic Republic (East Germany)

BTW: I took this roster from Wikipedia, I never saw them play and it's not easy to find informations about this team, so if there is a Korean member, I will ask help surely

Yeah, I've seen North Korea once or twice on Eurosport and their #10 was pretty good. ;)

Indeed. Only internationals can give us a hint.
I have returned to the Classics section after a longer break. I am currently working on a list of Danish players from the 90s.

Annoyed that they qualified and Iran didn't.

I mean are North Korean fans gonna even be allowed to travel to the damn world cup? I dont see a whole lot of atmosphere being brought with this team's inclusion and I'm pretty sure they are going out first round.

Freaking saudis..couldn't even beat them at home. Totally screwed us over.

Don't know, but I reckon they won't make it to the knockout round.

I'll make stats for their best player (probably) Chong Tese. I've only watched him in Japan playing for Kawasaki Frontale but according to his wiki page he scored 12 goals in 20 games.

He's a true poison, he can score from all positions. South Koreans profoundly regretted turning him down (although it was related to politics). I am pretty sure he would be able to score against the strongest defenses in the World Cup, provided he receives some decent balls in the box.

You guys shouldn't underestimate them. North Korea is perhaps be the weakest team on paper (among the 32), but if they "play the 0 - 0" like Greece in 2004 and try to exploit every single occasion they get they might qualify to the knockout phase.

I think its almost impossible to evaluate what their level might be so I'd be patient with them. They did qualify for a reason I guess.

post118528.html#p118528 , Chong Tese

A possible way we can get most of the North Korean Squad done is for people to watch the players that play in domestic clubs during the WC leaving the players that play outside the country to be made by people that watch those league (J, K and Chinese Leagues). Again we might not get the entire squad done but this way we have a better chance of getting most of them done.

Oh, damn this is gonna be a hand job. Maybe we should watch their friendlies if they play against proper teams.
Chong Tese (Japanese spelling) must be Jong Tae-Se (Korean) I guess.

They pulled out of the Asian Cup so they aren't playing anything right now and probably won't until the world cup actually comes.
