Daley Blind

INFO:
Spoiler: show
Young Daley Blind, son of former Ajax-legend Danny Blind. Daley debuted for the first team last year against FC Volendam, where he came on to replace Eyong Enoh. He did surprisingly well, nearly scoring a goal and was pretty close to giving some assists.

A player much alike his father, Daley plays the offensive centreback role of the classic Ajax-system in the Reserve-squad. When being played into the senior side, he's been used as a defensive midfielder though; a position he's grown used to throughout his years in the academy.

Blind is a good defender, with the ability to read play very well for someone his age. This often helps him out in tight defensive situations, where he often is able to nip the ball away before it reaches the planned destination. Daley's main assets are his passing and dribbling. For a defensive-minded midfielder, he's also a very good distributor and he has excellent control over the ball. In the academy, he's even been used as a more offensively placed central midfielder thanks to his great technical abilities. He's also got a very decent freekick.

In the second half of the 2009-2010 season, the young prodigy has emerged as one of the countries' biggest defensive talents as he displayed his ability to cover the entire defensive line during his loan-period at FC Groningen.

Fun fact: Daley Blind is the first son of a former Ajax-player to have actually made minutes in the Ajax first squad, others like Jordi Cruyff, Youri Mulder, Danny Muller and Robin Kieft failed to do so before him despite being part of the first squad selection.

Hope he keeps it up.

His tidiness and industry are key for him to be a success at this level.

And contrary to what Roy says, I can only see him do it from a central position (as he does have clear weaknesses, also).

Yeah, classy 1st match. I wonder how he will do in the EPL when the pace of the game is much higher and the opponent applies pressure to him.

I think its interesting that with the ball on his feet he looks above averagely agile, but without I know he isnt.
For me his TW can be in the high 80s, and his SPA and SPS can be around 83/84.

Not based on this last game, but more on his general development since late 2013.

I watched the first half, nice player indeed. Didn't look handiccaped by any lack of pace. But in EPL all players look fast as the game is quick from one box to the others^^
They have eyes but cannot see; they have ears, but cannot hear; they have tongues, but cannot speak. They are like cattle.

I feel his short passing is bit underrated, both acc and spd, i think he is at great level right now, every game showing security and always great % of acc passes, could be at 84-86, tw could be bit higher to

Also Shot Power should be higher, around 84 would be good.

Guess it fits him well. He's physically so limited but technically really gifted, and from what I know he can definitely defend as well.

His intelligence and reading of the defense has been really impressive thus far and combined with his technical skill it helps to counteract his lack of physicality . This short analysis from Gary Neville a few weeks back highlights his strengths to a degree.

His shots are fairly stronger than SP 79; unfortunately he won't shoot that often due to his defensive role at both club and international level, but he puts some good power on his shots everytime he finds some space to try from middle or long ranges. He's more like SP 82 IMO.

On the other side, I have some doubts whether he really needs yellow values for BB. As Roy already said, he's kinda fragile, probably in the 77-78 region.

I'll adjust his BB to 77, he's not as strong as an 80 would suggest and he is kind of frgile in that area. I'll also bring up his SP as you've suggested.

How about defence? I think he needs more time but what he has shown from the game vs Tottenham, I think he is way better than Jonny.

I wouldn't say he's their best by far. Smalling deserves massive credit as well and he's put in some great performances for United over the past season. Also him and Blind work together far better than Jones and Blind or Smalling and Jones have done.
