I don't think Santos is a good crosser. He just punts the ball into the crowd without actually trying to find a specific person in a crowd. He has more placement in his free kicks than his crosses. As Maguss mentioned in an earlier post, his crossing is inconsistent and powerful. I say, we swap LPA and LPS. His crosses aren't difficult to intercept. Santos is also a good ground passer, but a yellow figure is looking overrated on global ladders. He's one of the safest passers in the team and has shown to have good vision as well. Santos doesn't deserve to be on par with Clichy purely because he isn't just
a safe passer. Again, SPA and SPS should be swapped around. His balance could possibly be raised to 80, but not anymore higher. He's good at holding up the ball and is generally strong against most people he comes across on the flank, but he simply doesn't deserve to be on par with Gokhan on the opposite flank. Gokhan should be rated higher because he is a tougher tackler and also to compensate for Gokhan's smaller build. Balance wouldn't look bad on 80
. Caner Erkin definitely isn't as strong as Santos. His tenacity needs to be sorted out as well. He has funny attitude towards defending and lacks some degree of urgency (and capacity) to defend effectively. Compared to Baroni, he isn't performing as badly. He shows more "bite" to his game without actually being as unprofessional as Baroni. Compared to the following players:
Santos should at least be sitting on a yellow value. He's a gritty defender who isn't afraid of the physical side of Turkish football. He genuinely tries to make himself useful on the left hand side and doesn't really have work ethic or attitude problems on the pitch. He isn't as gritty as Bonnart and you don't witness the same urgency with Santos that you see with Cissokho or Evra.
Defensively speaking, I don't rate Santos worse than Marcelo Vieira so 64 is the lowest figure I can accept for the first post. His aggression will naturally keep him high up the pitch, which will expose his positional sense.
