@maldito rockero: wich formation do you mean?

@s-cobar: this one looks pretty much like a mixture of the both formations I posted before and will probably be the formation for tonight against Hoffenheim.

But I am not too sure, if there we'll be two real CF and Ribery & Robben on the wings; this seems quiet offensive to me.
Thats's why, versus the formation against Juve, I posted Müller (which van Gaal said will be playing if not injured so I quess when Rib comes back, Olic will have to give way, even so he showed some good performances) as an AM / SS - maybe you could move him a little more to the right. Also Olic (more to the left) and Klose could fit perfect in that position.

Schweinsteiger and Bommel in the last games played both DM in my opinion. Even so Schweinsteiger could seem to push more to the offense, looking at game analyses like on http://www.bundeslige.de (I hope posting a link like this one is O.K.) shows another picture. They arer alternate quiet balanced.

Had been a quiet nice game against Hoffenheim. Robben was superb, I liked Badstuber a lot, very convincingly. And Lahm seems to be getting as strong on the right side as he has been on the left side.

I think, the game has been the perfect example for my thoughts. On the paper, Munich played a 442 with Müller & Robben on the wings and Olic & Gomez as central forwards.

But if you looked carefuly, it was more a 433 or the mentioned mixture of both systems.

To see it clearer, take a look at the game analyses of http://soccernet.espn.go.com/gamecast?id=273204&page=features&cc=5739&league=GER.1 (select average position from the dropdown menu and of course Munich as team) or http://www.bundesliga.de/de/liga/matches/2009/index.php?omi=287916&reiter=b&tag=18 (Analyse - Aufstellung Heim - Tatsächliche Aufstellung)

The second link might be easier to study at first, because it does not show the switched players as the first link.

You can see, van Bommel and Schweinsteiger played on one line as DM again. Müller and Olic alternated SS and winger.

That's what I meant, the formation might look like, when Ribery returns. Ribery and Robben on the wings, Gomez as CF and Müller /Olic / Klose as SS.

Look like Ribéry take Olics place in starting eleven. Ribéry take Müllers place in left wing and Müller take Olics place.

One more thing I have write same in Schweini profile that Schweini play more like DMF than MvB but still with some attacking move. MvB should should be closer the goal than Schweini. But think both should play as DMF or Schweini DMF and MvB as CMF.

Hey, I am happy to see, that the fomration has been updated; but I am a little disappointed to be honest, that the formation of s-cobar has been used. I mean, I really appreciate his work and engagement, but still I do not agree with that setup, regarding several points ( see my last posts, too).

- Schweinsteigers position: both van Bommel and Schweinsteiger do clearly play DM for me, alternating in there offensive actions.

- Badstuber, who mostly concentrates on the defense, pushes considerably fewer to the offensive than Lahm does on the right side, supporting Robben, which:
- almost plays a kind of winger, getting through - and chip balls, while Ribery mostly comes from more behind, having more offensive players in front of him.

- Müller playing SS, fullfilling the whole in the offensive midfield and sprinting into the gaps of the opposing defensive; either on the wings or in the center. He also does a good job in the backward movement.

I post the formation I see on the pitch again, maybe a tininess modified compared to the one posted (and described) before, but the principle is still the same.

That's the first 11:

GK: Butt
LB: Badstuber
LCB: Demicheles
RCB: van Buyten
RB: Lahm
DM: van Bommel (C)
CM: Schweinstiger
LM: Ribery
RM: Robben
SS: Müller
CF: Gomez

Long Free Kicks: Schweinsteiger
Short Free Kicks: Robben / Ribery
Left Corner Kick: Ribery
Right Corner Kick: Robben
Penalties: Robben / Ribery

I put that in the 1st post. Agree about both as DM, but I would position Van Bommel and Schweinsteiger a bit "higher", probably closer to the middle line. Furthermore the CF (Gomez) works a lot for the defense, maybe you can adjust the graphic a bit. Btw, it's "Demichelis". ;)

Robben at right flank play better and more in defense at Ribery at left flank. I don't see this on this formations.

But I wrote only with situation with RObbery. With pranjic [sick!] or Mueller is like that you wrote.

That what you mentioned cannot be in the formations, it's rather depends on the behaviour of both players. Both runs back, but Robben even intensivlier than Ribéry and at the moment he shows a better Mentality than Ribéry.

not really mostly demichelis plays instead of badstuber normally but because of injuries van gaal had to put contento in

the only thing we should change in the new formation in first post is olic instead of gomez the rest is fine

Schweinsteiger plays as a DM? No way! I always thought he played as a CM! :S
MvB tends to stay and help the Def, while Shweini seems to help the Attackers and to Start & Help attacks! :S

I am from Bavaria and a huge fan of Bayern, I watch the games and I am also registered on some tactic sites, so I would like to post my opinion about the tactic of "the FCB".

This is how I see it:

When everybody is fit:

Scheme:
---------- x -----------
------------- x --------
x ------ x ----------- x
----- x -------- x -----
------------------------
--- x -------- x ----- x
------ x ---------------

Goalkeeper: Butt - slightly going forward to receive passes and to help in the defensive passing play

Sweeper: Badstuber - more on the left - not going to the offense and staying behind

Central Back: Breno [Van Gaal said, he will play in this role and will be in the starting XI] - more advanced and plays in a line with Alaba/Contento and Lahm high up the pitch

Left back: Alaba / Contento - high defensive, but also going to the offense
Right back: Lahm - high defensive, but also going to the offense

DMF: Schweinsteiger and Van Bommel - both highly defensive, but Schweinsteiger is running more so he also gets in the offense, but it depends of the opponent. Sometimes Van Bommel is more offensive, sometimes Bastian.

Right Wing: Ribéry - standard defensive orientation, going straight or cuts into the middle, little bit deeper than Müller and Robben and more on the outside than Robben

SS: Müller - highly defensive - going forward and backwards when Bayern in possession of the ball

SS: Robben - more on the right side than Müller - cuts into the middle - standard defensive orientation

CF: Gomez - highly defensive - going forward and backwards when Bayern in possession of the ball

Actual starting XI (won't last long):

GK: Butt
LCB: Demichelis
RCB: Van Buyten
RB: Lahm
LB: Pranjic
DMF: Tymoshchuk
CM: Schweinsteiger
RMF: Müller
LMF: Altintop
AMF: Kroos
CF: Gomez
