Rfuna wrote:IMO we leave him for now because he's too difficult to rate. What's happened to him over the years in inexplicable. It's like with Milito. Worse yet he's hardly ever played last 2 years so how can we rate him fairly. We could maybe just reduce consistency maybe until he plays more regularly. If anything its just that he's confidence has been shot to shit over the years. and then various injury problems.

No, I strongly disagree here. In this website everyone is fast to increase stats (including myself) and slow to decrease (note: it's not a criticism to you, Ron, but to everyone), fast to increase stats for players that played good for some months and slow to decrease players that aren't playing good for months (again, I include myself in this criticism); the law must be equal for everyone, because play in the game with this Santon is just unrealistic. Because the actual (and with "actual" I mean more than 15 months) Santon is an useless and brainless player (and you can read in this topic that I was and I am a supported of him, so personally I have nothing against him). As I said I have nothing against him, but see or play with an overrated Santon, or an overrated Jankulovski, or an overrated Amantino Mancini capable of dribble every defender, or an overrated Adriano capable of run and do something useful, or an overrated Buffon or Doni capable of catch all balls is very frustating and not correct. In Santon's case, the excuse "he didn't played, it's impossible to rate" (that can be rightly used with Bizzarri or Suazo for example) is not applicable, he showed too many times to have problems (physical, but mainly mental IMO) and since in PES it's (I believe) impossible to have a combination of 15 months of purple down arrow, the only solution is to decrease his values.
Apart the vent, this set exist in Classic section so if someone prefer to play with a 2009's Santos is free to use his classic stats, but 2010's and 2011's Santos is another player and it's correct to give him an update. It's hard to find a good game by him in last two years and I can't imagine this set plus a orange or red arrow how can become unrealistic. He has the potential to become this good, but the reality is that to replicate him in PES we are forced to decrease, I'm sorry. Like I wrote, my first ideas are about DEF and RESP.

Completely agree with Ace. Also agree with Epsi's suggestions (DEF: 64, RES 77). I'd lower his TW too.

Ok, he has improved is def recently, so maybe we shouldn't decrease that just yet? Maybe to 66 instead of 63? Response should go down to 77, though. He also seems to attack much less, so maybe a slight decrease in aggression? But that may just be tactics or something...who knows. But I think it should go down to about 79, but I wouldn't mind if you guys keep it at 81. Mentality also needs to go down, he seems very lazy at times. Epsi suggested 73, right? I agree with that.

There are some things that I actually think could get upped, though. His DA, DS and Technique all could use a boost. He's very good when he's on the ball, and keeps the ball very close to his feet. 80 for both, or maybe even 81 for his DA...but that may be overkill, don't know. Need to test it some more. And I really think DS could go up 1, or 2 points...he's very fast when he's on the ball actually.

About Index cards, I'm not sure whether we should give him Mazing Run or Darting Run...he can go on solo runs where he just runs through 3, or 4 defenders...but Darting Run seems to be a better fit, for me at least.

Did some tests, and I felt like these values fit him better. Explanations are in my previous posts.

Defence: 63-65
Response: 76/77
DA: 80
DS: 84
SPA: 72
SPS: 73
SP: 81
Agression: 79/80
Mentaility: 71-72
Teamwork: 76
PLAYER INDEX CARDS:
P04 - Darting Run (optional, but I prefer it)
S18 - Turning Skills
S22 - Side Stepping Skills

Nope, he might get a run of games because of the injuries though.

This guy needs a serious speed update. He gave Walcott a very good run for his money and almost matched him for speed in yesterday's match. So if Walcott is a 97 for TS, Santon must be around 90.

He has been very solid in defense.
Defence: 69
Response: 75

I think Defence must be 68, because he is good stopper ;) !
Header :80 and short pass acc: 75 : he has been assisting very good!!
Shoot power :78
Dribble Speed:80
Dribble Acc:83
He dribble good but not very quick! :P

updated players with the cards glitch, konami don't give him long throw, though he had it here beforehand, can someone clarify which is correct?

I think we should raise his DA a little more, that figure now is a little harsh, do not think it's really a simple yellow value. He has an incisive run and good driving with clever touches, I think 82-83 would be good for him.

If I wanted you to understand, I would have explained better.

he should have the 'incisive run' card. A dribbler whose expertise is to cut from the wide areas is the epitome of Santons game

You know he is a decent defender, I got my hands to some inter compilations of him some time ago and few from newcastle (ehh, it's odd, there is a site with a huge amount of compilations from him, almost all his matches or something like that), he was lazy and careless though, he just wouldn't give a shit and was easily distracted, but when it came to 1-1 situation he was quite decent, actually pretty competent, Def 68 or so in my books.

This was the site

yep he's like that at newcastle, when he pays attention and concentrates he's an excellent defender, but he is prone to the odd lapse and when he does lapse he can be a complete disaster, I'd have no problems with 68 for def and a lower TW perhaps, and add incisive run and raise DA as suggested already.

bumping long throw issue as well, still haven't got to the bottom of which is correct
