Postby Fides » 2008 Dec 11, 18:15

Nickname: "L'Airone" | "San Marco"

Club: AC Milan

Growth type: Standard

INFO:

Marco Van Basten was the greatest striker in the world during the late 1980s. Blessed with two great feet, grace with close control, quick on the turn and excellent in the air, and a panache for scoring spectacular goals for club and country. He was best remembered with his winning goal in European Championship 1988 final match against Soviet Union. He shot from a seemingly impossible angle. The shear audacity and technique of that strike showed his supreme class. Van Basten was very success in his career with AC Milan, and regarded as the greatest striker in history of Italian Serie A. Despite average of score per game in the league was lower than any era due to appearances of many world-class defenders but he still scored 90 goals in 147 games. Van Basten was forced to retire early at 29 through injury . he was voted 8th, 9th and 12th the greatest footballer of the century by France Football, World Soccer and IFFHS, respectively, and was voted 4th by UEFA Jubilee poll.

Recent Suggestion;

p1rha Posted: Dec 3 2008, 06:40 AM wrote:he might deserve an orange value for the header, he was pretty good at it has well and scored many headers. what about weak foot frequency? imo an 8 is just for players like zidane or maldini, 7 would be enough. and i agree with the *post player.
the rest is pretty much what i'd say from him.

For the left foot suggestion, just watch the vids, he really has no difficulties going for his left :P

i suggest a raise in his header and jump, he scored a lot of excellent headers, see this one:-

i say 93 for header and 86-88 for jump

I'd suggest response going up to 95, header to 90 and balance to 89. FKA should probably come down to 79 or 80; he was OK with a dead ball but only from a short range, which his amazing shooting will help replicate.

He should probably have the Post Player star too, he was a great target man in a very strong and quite direct Milan side.

93-95 Header.

Could go with 86-88 Jump.

Response 95.

*Post player, possibly *Reaction as-well.

Cheers. 8-)

i think his stats are fine, well balanced and emulate him well. it isn't him that's underrated, it's just there many players in the site overrated

How on earth is he underatted?
He has 99 Shot Technique. That alone makes him incredibly dangerous ingame as you can score from virtually anywhere.
On top of this is his Attack Value which makes his poaching skills as effective as Van Nistelrooy.
He also has excellent dribbling ability and good pace. And finally he is very good in the air.

I would even go as far as to say he is the best striker of all time with these stats.

As you said this stats emulate him quite well, and make him one of the most dangerous strikers which he was for sure.Along with Weah(who is overrated imo) he is almost impossible to stop.

Well I know he's fine, actually he is great, but regarding shoot power couldn't he get some extra points? I say this based only on highlights , I admit, but he sometimes had some wild blasts. Anyway, he is very deadly so I am just asking, not even suggesting.

I don't think his shooting stat need to go up anymore, he can score from everywhere with his stat right now and if we keep pumping him up even Lev Yashin can't stop him

I can accept SP increase for 1. But consider that on his day(red condition), his SP wil be 93-94.
As I regulary play with classic club teams on PS2 community mode with my friends, I feel the need to decrease stats, in general, of classic players. In community mode condition arrows are allways random, it's only option. With both Weah and Van Basten having red condition, and with current stats they go trough meat, and easilly score 2,3 goals from distance regulary.

SA Should be 95. Believe it or not, guys, but I've actually seen him place -some- shots incorrectly. Haha. Header 90 to compliment jump.

Why are we being so ridiculous about his abilities?? If he played today he'd have more conservative stats. WHY? Do you say? These vids are all the best bits of his ENTIRE CAREER.

If you think he's under rated, or you struggle to score more than 2 a game with him then I am afraid you need to go to training school. :?

I hate playing with him in-game because its too easy. I can honestly say I get zero satisfaction out of scoring any kind of goal with him as in the back of my mind I'm constantly thinking "SA 97, ST 99..."

I also don't see why his jump should be raised to the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo

ST 99 is silly, too, by the way. 94 is a better bet, it's about 10 yellows higher than Gerrard/Lampard. You'll still score plenty of volleys.

It's just boring knowing your going to score every time you press shoot but if he deserves it he deserves it. I just don't like playing as him full stop if I'm honest
