Anastasios Papazoglou

Postby PES Stats Database » 2012 Oct 03, 21:34

Anastasios Papazoglou is a Greek versatile Defender who was a regular for Greek Youth National teams.
He started his career at Panserraikos as a Midfielder and he was signed by Olympiacos in 2010.
"Tasos" spend the 2010-11 Season out on-loan at Panserraikos, and towards the end of his time at Panserraikos he was converted into a Defender.
He stayed for three years at Olympiacos, establishing himself as a useful squad player, playing mainly as a Right-Back and winning three Championships and two Cups.
In the Summer of 2014, he requested a move abroad for more game time and he was signed for APOEL for the next two years.

He is #23.
Also I am pretty sure that he plays Left-Back as well.

Mainly he played as RB for 2nd position, but he played also as LB but in extreme conditions.

Hm... I haven't watched him much but his Ιnjury Tolerance should be B, at best.
Papazoglou is injured for a second time since signing for APOEL and for a long-term injury as well, one month +...
Also his Tenacity is really low right now... He is a true fighter, plays with passion till the last minute and he isn't worried about Stamina or if he will be hurt. 76-77 in my opinion.

One of APOEL's useless players.
He just doesn't have a position in which he plays at. He is decent as CB and as a RB, but he is not best in either of these positions.
As a CB he is aggressive in a good sence, but at the same time his positioning isn't the best. Carlao and Amorin are much much better CBs than him, in terms of defensive positioning, pace and technique(basically almost better at everything!). Even "old-man" Kaka, who Donis wanted to get rid of, is playing much better than him when he is given his chances.
As a RB, he is one of the most defensive-minded Full-Backs I've ever watched. He just sits back and defends. His crosses are even worse than Pipinis'! Also, he is too slow to play in this position.
Adding to that, he is injured almost all the time, and even when he is fit, he warms the bench or he is not even on it!

I can't see a reason why APOEL should keep him. He is a decent all-around defender, but he isn't reliable to play every week as a starter in a position if needed.

However, I haven't watched him much at Olympiacos(as I've already said), so I cannot be sure to judge him harshly after watching him only in 4-5 matches.

Looking forward to get opinions about how he played in the Greek SuperLeague.

I have about the same view of him, he was a solid defensive SB who was difficult to beat, but at the same time not reliable enough to play CB. As for injuries I remember a few times where he got injured during the game, on his head for example but he would continue playing. I don't know much about his injury history though, he may be indeed injury prone now.

Another awful game from him Vs Ajax as CB.
How he still gets games ahead of Kaka, I don't know. Probably only Donis knows!

OMG this guy!
Absolute shit performance by him today in a 4-4 draw with AEK Larnaca at home! Worse CB performance at APOEL since Francisco Zuela.
While Carlao was playing, APOEL conceded only 2 goals until today in the League, which was the lowest for any European team, in any European League, until Carlao was injured, and guess what happened! APOEL conceded 4, yes 4, in a home match, 3 of those in the First Half, while Papazoglou was playing CB!

He just didn't care. Yellow-carded from like 15'-17' and he was doing fouls all the time, and two of them were Straight Red Cards! How he got away with it, he doesn't even know!

In the Second Half he played RB/ RCB, depending on how you see it, and he made some really good crosses actually. His crosses, although not accurate, had brilliant pace on them, like Antonio Valencia's I would say, and he even hit the post with a Long-Range Shot/Cross he attempted.

Anyway, even as a RB he wasn't good. He needed about 10 seconds to control the ball every time, honestly, and he was obviously slow.

How he was making the Olympiacos team for so many years, I cannot understand!

Match Highlights:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOADou- ... e=youtu.be

(2:15) A Papazoglou's foul while Yellow-Carded.
(2:32) Good ball forward to Sheridan.
(2:41) Absolutely messes-up his marking in AEK's 3rd goal.
(3:35) Fantastic Cross by Papazoglou to Djebbour in the beginning of the attack which led to APOEL's 3rd goal.
(4:01) Papazoglou's Shot/Cross I said earlier which hit the post.

Suggestions??
Attack may rise to 63 (+2). No, he doesn't go forward that much, but the most positive things I got from him came while he was attacking.
Defence can fall to at least 69 (-2). Do I have to explain something here???
Long Pass Accuracy: 72 (+5)
Long Pass Speed: 77 (+6)
Swerve: 73 (+10)
I find it difficult to explain what's happening with his crosses. In his first matches, he didn't make many crosses, as I said before, he was very defensive-minded, and the ones he made, seemed even worse than Pipinis! However, what I saw today from him was decent LPA, good LPS, and brilliant Swerve on his crosses. Just watch the video, that's what I saw!

Body Balance: 78 (-2)
Stamina: 77 (-2)
Maybe I am wrong, but from what I saw, his Physical stats have to go down! He isn't a physical presence like Carlao, although he firstly gives you a wrong impression, and Stamina definitely isn't great, as I find him quite immobile.

Teamwork: 66 (-4)
Not sure if this is about PES' Teamwork, but when playing CB he should poor communication with his teamates and goalkeeper.

He is removed from APOEL's official squad registered in the Football Association.
Surely he will leave APOEL, either as a Free-Agent or on-loan.
