frshmn's Stats

Postby frshmn » 2012 Aug 12, 19:37

Welcome all to my new (and hopefully, improved) stats thread.

Following the decision to begrudgingly delete my first stats thread, I’ve started this new thread which, like the first, will focus centrally (in fact, exclusively, this time around) on classic Premiership players. However, unlike the first thread, sets will adhere to different standards.

As was the case with the previous thread, I’ll gladly take requests, although due to work commitments I won't be able to post them quite as frequently as before.

Yeah, gladly. You'll have to bear with me though since, naturally, my memory of '99 Scholesy is kind of hazy and I'll need to go over a good number of matches before posting.

Sorry, it's been so long that I'd completely forgotten about a lot of the sets. I'll post it as soon as. ;)

Reserved for a Cesc Fabregas set.

NOTE: Deleted the Fabregas set because it was copied straight from my old OF and I wasn't happy with it. I'll use it as a base for now, and I'll post the finished article soon.

Thanks very much, mate. In regards to my old sets, I decided it's best they all be deleted since they didn't adhere to the new standards, and I honestly couldn't be bothered to go over all of them (I think there were around 50 or so...) and rectify them. Also, I generally got the feeling that as time wore on and I made more sets, the quality of the sets became progressively worse - clearly, I'd posted too many sets, too quickly, and the quality of the sets suffered for it.

So, they're all gone. I'll be sure to post some of them in newer standards, eventually.

Did you save any off your old sets or plan on revisiting them on a later date? Some where still better than those posted in the classic section like Vinnie Jones for example. I'd also like tap into your Gooner knowledge and request Ian Wright 8-)

Yep, I saved a handful of sets (the sets which I thought were salvageable), including the Vinnie Jones set.

Consider the Ian Wright set, done. ;)

Thanks for that, mate. There are some awesome videos there which would be particularly helpful for Brezza's requested Ian Wright set (I also came across a few Man. City videos, so expect a classic Kinkladze set in the not too distant future :D).

I find that it's getting increasingly difficult to come across good classic footage, so any and all suggestions are appreciated. ;)

Very good Wright, amazing finisher period. Not much too add except seen him hit some harder shots than 80 here and there but the value probably suits him for his delicate chip shots and well slotted 1-1's. I remember reading that technique might affect chip shots as well, not sure about that anymore.

Yeah, he could really smack the ball when he wanted to, but as you've pointed out, he typically preferred to caress the ball in to the net. I initially had him on a value of 82, but I'm in two minds about whether to raise his current SP, or even lower it.

I've read somewhere on the board that tech influences a players ability to lob the ball, but I can't get my head around how exactly it works. Suffice it to say, if there's any truth to that, then Wrighty could warrant a much higher TEC value.

Thanks for the comment, Brezza!

just to answer the q regarding tech and lobs. yes, it is true, it's present since the PS2 games, try executing a lob with Player X (SA 85 ST 85 TECH 75) and Player Y (SA 85 ST 85 TECH 90) and the power bar will go considerably slower on Player Y enabling a more accurate shot and a better arc of the chip.
