did 3 great 1-1 saves against Barcelona in Copa a while ago, showing a good DEF sense, 2 of them against the most prolific scorer in front of the goal last seasons :D

Taking into account this comment, I think he could confortably sit on yellows for DEF, probably a 81. Noche Eterna, what you think?

1 match means nothing... I saw the matches vs. Barcelona and Messi shot the "doll". Mikel conceded 7 goals in 2 games. Yes, it was against Barcelona, but he wasn't very successful in some goals. I saw the matches of CD Guadalajara in the past season and he had a good level but not better than Alberto Garcia, the starter goalkeeper of Córdoba. But it's just my perception.
By the way, JuLiTo created this thread but the set was mine :)

Re: Mikel Saizar, AEK Larnaca

He is #13.

Saizar has played a couple of games for AEK Larnaca this season, including the derby Vs APOEL Nicosia.
He is second-choice to fellow Spaniard Tono Ramirez, and when Saizar got the chance to play and prove that he is good enough to become the first-choice goalkeeper, I think he wasted it.
He is a bit like APOEL's flop, Jordi Codina. Both of them experienced, with career in La Liga, but both of them didn't play regularly for years before coming to Cyprus and this resulted in big problems to their form.
Saizar, like Jordi Codina, is a fine and reliable shot-stopper, with good reflexes, but he also shares many weaknesses with Codina, like struggling to catch the ball or clear it effectively when it is in the air, and they have many positional problems as well, and as a result they are not as reliable as many people would think given their experience. I think his set reflect this well, but still needs some changes:

Body Balance: 81 (-2)
Jump: 78 (+3)
Form: 3 (-2)
Teamwork: 68 (-2)

Released from _cyp AEK Larnaca, because he was a surplus to their squad, regarding the number of foreign players that can be registered to the Association.

Not surprisingly at all, to be honest. Never showed confidence and struggled for consistent performances when being given the chance to play Last Season, when he was their second-choice Goalkeeper behind fellow Spaniard, Toño Ramírez, who was sold to Real Sociedad this Summer. After Toño's departure this Summer, even youngsters like Mateusz Taudul played in goal for AEK Larnaca ahead of Mikel Saizar for the Europa League qualifiers, until they signed their new No.1 Goalkeeper, Rubén Miño. Also, after the recent signing of veteran Cypriot International, Antonis Giorgallides, as a back-up Goalkeeper, there was no reason what so ever to continue to have Saizar in the squad.
