I think that 87 - 88 for Defence is faire, he is defending very well.

Farts stinks like a mother fucker!

I think the current value may even be a bit too high if anything.

I still see him at 86. Last season he made too many mistakes as that he deserves a higher Def value.

I don't actually rate him as an 86 to be honest. I think he's more of a strong defender who makes quite a few mistakes. He's known to be a good defender due to his Strength [Balance], Aerial prowess [Header/Height] and his reading of the game ain't half bad either. I'd have his defence at 85 if I was being fair. To be honest, I'd rate Andrea BARZAGLI ahead of him positionally.

TO have him on 85 would be fairer in my honest opinion as it'd have him on par with

85: Martín DEMICHELIS, Josip SIMUNIC

Which is the level I think he's on at the current moment in time.

Yes, okay, you're right about that, but then I would raise his BB.
I didn't see any player who outmuscle him or could do that and it's not only because of his size.
I see him on par with Simunic there, so I would go for 90.

I'd agree to raising his Balance to a 90... Although I think we'd have to raise Naldo's too then.

For Naldo, I don't think he should also get Balance around 90.
Therefor he's easier to get down than Mertesacker in my eyes.
His actual value there is well deserved. ;)

Really? I'd have Naldo as slightly weaker than Per. Which would leave him at a value of 89.

I don't see why he couldn't be on par with:

90: Sami HYYPIÄ (193, 89), Hugo ALMEIDA (191, 90)

considering he's taller than both of them a value of 89 would suit it well to make him seem on par with them.

You agree to my value on Per's defence yeah?

Yes, he's on par with them at BB, though he's taller than both. Hence, 89 is fine enough. ;)

And also yes, 85 is good for Mertesacker.^^

Done it.
I made also some slightly in other areas, e.g. with TS: 73 and Acc: 77 he would be too slow for his size and in my eyes he hasn't such that good Acceleration.
His passing in general was getting better as well and for his size he still has a good jump, so 75 would be to low there.
I also change his Condition to 7, he can make a lot of games in a row and if he has no injuries this season I would raise it even to an 8.

Edit: Also added *Marking as he's even good in that way to follow his direct opponent.

Disagree on 85 for defense.

In fact, i think 87-88 is fair. He is positionally top class. He is ovne of the most intelligent defenders you will see, reads the game brilliantly.

However I do think his accel can come down a touch. He is pretty sluggish.

What do you think about giving Mertesacker *D-Line? Today you could see that without Mertesacker the German national team shows problems in "managing" offside-traps. The same applies for Bremen. Naldo is a great defender, too... but Mertesacker is the leader of the defense.

This guy is very experienced already, though he is still quite young. That's why Mertesacker seems to me like one of the players influencing his teammates by organizing the defense.

with this stat , he can't be stay in Germany team.
I don't mean you to change his data , I just wonder why Low choise he be the NO.1 place in Germany. I seldon watch his playing but I know he sometimes score a winning goal for Bremen.

@orange2: What? Did you actually read the 1st post? :?

Let's come back to my suggestion from Oct 09. What do you think about giving him that star (D-Line/DF Leader)? As Bremen played with offside traps for years he has a lot of experience with this...
