Kempie wrote:IMO the team lacks a little balance in midfield - there isn't one defensive midfield player in the 23-man squad, and Xavi is not really a holding midfield player.

Xavi, Iniesta and Gerrard all play with a midfield anchorman behind them at club level. I would drop Iniesta to the bench with Xavi moving to his role and bring Marcos Senna in to take the holding midfield role.

The holding midfielder role is especially important in a team with such attacking full-backs as Lahm and Daniel Alves, and I think Senna is the best in the world atm.

To free the extra place in the squad, I'd drop one of the strikers, as the formation only has 1 striker, but there are 4 players in the squad competing for that one place - I'd either drop Eto'o or Villa to the reserves.

Hmm I prefer Mascherano to Senna because I think Mas is a little bit better defensively then Senna. And I agree to you too that one striker need to be drop, and I would go for Eto'o, Villa is still better than Eto'o

and Villa is better than Torres too, he should be in the XI IMO

Individually there is nothing in it. But Torres is far more adpet at playing as a lone striker therefore he should be in the starting XI imo.

Also if you're going to put another DM in the squad you could drop a striker. No need to have Torres, Villa, Eto'o and Zlatan really.

Eto'o should go and Cambiasso should enter.

Firstly Brezza i think you have done a great job but the only problem i have is that you changed your original team and i think you should stick with vidic in defence alongside ferdinand

Or even Mascherano, he could easily be the sub. defensive midfielder. I also think that Puyol could be dropped back to the bench with Vidic or Carvalho moving the other way?

I am sad to see that one of my greatest idols, Javier Zanetti, isn't even on the bench for this team.. What's up with that..? He's still a world class player without a doubt, despite his age. He's turning 36 soon, but yet he's brilliant for both his team and as an individual. I would've added him to the team without consideration, tbh..

But who to replace him with..?

And yeah, this team definitely needs 1-2 DM's.. Who? I am not sure.. So many good candidates, but if I'd had to choose one, it'd be Real's M. Diarra.

Team: Liverpool FC, no second team.
Players: J. Zanetti, D. Kuyt, Ganso & T. Henry
Me: A mental, physical and conditioning oriented person/stats'er

Replaced Eto'o with Cambiasso just to piss off you Liverpool fans muahaahah.
also put Zanetti and Senna on the bench 8-)

The formation is a bit fantasy , but i dont know... id say the midfield have enough energy and guile to cope with defensive duties, im not separating the Iniesta and Xavi Partnership, which are the best in the world right now. I wouldn't be surprised if they go on to add the world cup to their two European triumphs together.

I suggest Ibrahimovic instead of Torres. Unique players both of them, but i think Ibra deserves the lead, as his importance in the the team is more overall than just scoring goals (and he scores them a lot). More virtuous player in my opinion.

Torres is the best centre forward in the world though

Moving the other way meaning to the starting XI :? I never even mentioned reserves, clearly said Puyol from team to bench, Vidic/Carvalho from bench to team.

Hmm? You certainly didn't piss me off in any way, tbh.. I am quite satisfied with the formation, except that I'd include J. Zanetti there, but that's just me, I guess. Hehe.

i think its more important to get the squad as a whole right rather than who starts
if you make the team on the game, which i have, you tend to mess about with the formation and starting eleven anyway so its not really important :)
