Bacary Sagna

Postby PES Stats Database » 2008 Dec 09, 10:57

Tough tackling and physically strong French defender, new signing from Auxerre during the summer. Versatile player who usually plays as a right back but can also play as a left back, centre back or in the midfield. Sagna has made 38 appearances for the French under-21 national side and has recently been called up to the French senior squad for the first time. His reputation is growing fast and has become a key player in the defence for club and country.

more than third of a season has gone
in my opinion, rule out the fitness factor
i think sanga did very well!
people might argue that he isnt as sharp as last season
wht is sharp in people eyes then?
gd performance? smart with defence position?
to me..it's improvement
in fact we can see that sanga kind of reach his neck limit at this moment
nothing wrong with performance but there isnt much he can improve
for now..stable would be more appropriate description
back to business
i think he deserve a slight update on his SPA and SPS, possibly defence as well due to his performance he made
SPA:75(+2)
SPS:76(+4)
about defence..im not that confident to rate, but have a sense of raise
Wes Brown:80
Alvaro Arbeloa:78
Gael Clichy:75
should i say 78(+2)?

i agree with those suggestions. and i think his passing stats could go up slightly, doesn't lose the ball that much and his crossing is pretty good:

spa: 76
sps: 75
lpa: 80
lps: 80

I agree with:

Defense: 77
SPA: 75 (+2)
SPS: 75 (+3)
LPS: 81/82 (+4)

He has showed good positional sense. And his short passes should be in green numbers, showing good passing abilities when he is envolved in colective plays, so not class passing (yellow numbers) and not bad (white numbers). About long pass i found correct his value for accuracy but he shows good power on them, and quite fast performing, that's why i think he should get 81 or 82 for LPS.

I definitely disagree there, his crossing is inconsistent and this season in particular it has just been awful.

I agree with all of these, but definately do not think he should have any sort of increase in LPA. His crossing accuracy has seen a drop this season for some reason although I think he is playing top of his game in pretty much every other aspect. Did the best job against Ashley Young of about anyone I've seen this year. Arsenal's most solid player in my oppinion as far as this season goes.

Shouldn't his side be "R" only? Has he ever been played on the left?

I've seen him play there a couple of times, although he looked quite uncomfortable.

I disagree with all suggestons. He doesn't need to have so good passing stats, Sagna's crosses are rarely accurate, tbh. It's his weakness, you know. He also doesn't need any change in defense, he works good in game, realistic Sagna I think. I see your suggestions as useless, these stats are perfect and fits him pretty damn well.

I know that i don't know anything.

I agree with LPS staying as it is. He just seems to be delivering alot of high floaty balls this season with not too much pace on them

Header: 83
Jump: 82

I think his Jump is actually better than his heading ability. For his height he's got a good leap, better than some of the other players on 82 when you take his height into consideration. In my opinion he should at least be level with Clichy on 83 probably one point higher on 84. On the flip-side I think his Header could actually come down, he currently sits level with Toure, Agger, Carragher and Richard Dunne. I don't feel in my opinion he's shown enough heading ability to justify being there.. looking at the players on 82 I still think that's a step too far, maybe an 81?

In summary:-
Header: 81
Jump: 84

Opinions?

Alf Ramsey: "I'll be watching you for the first 45 minutes and if you don't work harder I'll pull you off at halftime."
Rodney Marsh: "Crikey Alf, at Manchester City all we get is an orange and a cup of tea."

Are you sure that he's better in defense than Abidal (for exemple) on his side ?

Short passing could go into green figures, but Long passing figures should stay or even go down a point or 2. His crossing this year has been flaky at best, actually I would say it was poor this season and has only improved in the last 2 months. Still not at the level of last year so a -1/-2 in LPA would be fair.

Considering Bacary's slight frame, I think his balance can go up at the moment Babel, Ronaldo and Lampard are all on the same balance value but would outmuscle him due to their superior height and weight, this would also put him on more or less the same as Torres, which I don't think is fair. I think he could go up to an 83 this puts him more or less on par with Anderson and slightly above fellow RB Andy Griffin, which I think is fair.

I agree with the Balance suggestion and I thought I'd summarise a couple of the other suggestions that seemed to generally be agreed on:

---

Defence: 77 (+1)
Balance: 83 (+1)
Header: 81 (-2)
Jump: 84 (+2)

---

As for the passing suggestions, I'm not sure his short passing needs to be touched to be fair. He's a "decent" passer because he never tries to play difficult passes. He's currently level on SPA with Bendtner who I feel can make more difficult and telling passes than Baccy, anything higher than this and I don't think it's fair to some other players. I also feel his SPS is quite fair as it is, maybe a 1 point raise at most because he does under-weight his passes sometimes. His long passing is quite hard to judge, he's just been so inconsistent with his crossing this season.. based over the season as a whole his LPA could probably come down by 1 to 77 but his LPS looks fine to me, no matter how bad his crossing has been he still gets pace on them.
