Dragoslav Šekularac (born November 30, 1937 in Štip, Vardar Banovina, Kingdom of Yugoslavia, present day Republic of Macedonia) is a famous Serbian former football player and current coach, who was nicknamed Šeki.

He was on the national side that won the silver medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia. He later went on to make 41 senior international appearances, scoring 6 goals.

Born into a Serb family hailing from Vasojevići tribe in northern Montenegro, Šekularac took up football very early in his life, right after World War II ended. His family relocated to Serbia in the meantime and he came up through the Red Star Belgrade youth system.

A very talented winger and inside forward, Sekularac was named "the Artist", "the Romantic" or "The Brazilian" for his style of play, his dribbling skills and tendency to prefer the nice action to the more effective one. Extremely quick and crafty with the ball, his creative skills turned a lot of heads. At only 18, he made his national team debut on September 30, 1956. He ended up playing over 470 matches for Red Star and scoring over 150 goals.

He is the second Red Star's star. Today he is remembered for elevating the game to more than just goal-scoring. For many defensive players who were trying to guard him he was unsolved mistery, mission impossible. With his brilliant dribbling and fantastic goals he often raised the fans on their feet.

His career was disrupted by his bad temper on the field. In 1962, few month after his international consecration at the World Cup in Chile, the 25 years old Sekularac was banned for 18 month for hitting a referee in a Yugoslav League match vs. Radnički.

He later emigrated to Germany, the USA, Columbia and France and played to the age of 40. He later played for Independiente Santa Fe in Colombia for five seasons, before transferring to Millonarios from Bogotá and ending his career in German Bundesliga with Karlsruher SC.

Šekularac is recently a couch of FC White Eagles Toronto, and is currently living in Canada.

Playing for national team at World Cup 1962 in Chile he was unofficialy recognized as the greatest maestro, even though Garrincha and Amarildo took official award cause Barazil's won the Cup. After World Cup Juventus has offered 600.000 dollars for his signing, but due to rigid political regime in Yugoslavia he was not allowed to go to Juve.

After a trivial match in Paris against Pele's Santos even the great Pele asked him after the match: ''Are you sure that you were not born in Brazil?''

We are not relatives, but he's simply my favourite player in terms of style and attitude for football as just a ''game''.

1. I can say with almost any doubt that his SA should be in high green area (78-79). He would rather fool the keeper then shoot. He was all about tricks. Some people exaggerate a bit and say that he would sometimes dribble a several defenders, came in front of the keeper and because he was afraid that he would miss after all that effort, he would dribble the keeper and score or assist to one of his teammates . Also, you could add SS as secondary position, because position in which he played was between AMF and SS.

2. Condition could come up to 6. He played over 35 games per season in Red Star (counting all official matches in one season).

3. I think his WFA and WFF could come up. I watched World Cup games from Chile and he used his left foot almost the same way he used his right foot (he even took some free kicks with his left foot). I'm not 100% sure, but I can even go with WFA: 8, WFF: 8 (but WFA: 7, WFF: 8 is a must in my opinion).

4. His Team Work seems really low. I know he was selfish and all that, but when he saw an opportunity (after his dribbling), he would send very nice and usable passes. Therefor, I would suggest 74-75 for TW. Prosinečki is on 77, and he seemed more selfish to me. What I mean is that Šekularac would dribble and dribble and eventually send a really nice pass, while Prosinečki (when he was in Red Star) would dribble and dribble and dribble... until somebody fouls him (in most cases).

5. I must admit, I haven't seen Šeki scoring from free kick, but I have seen him passing from free kick. He would send good passes from FKs, with outside of his foot! Really amazing! Also in games he used that kind of passing. I would suggest assigning an *Outside.

6. Based on those games in Chile, I would also recommend adding *Passing. When he acted as a member of the team, his passes were really something. And although his passing values are ok, I think *Passing should be given to him (he also often created a chances for his teammates in Red Star).

8. His TS and ACC could be a bit higher (TS: 80-81, ACC: 88-89). Also, his Defence could be dropped to 30 (maybe even 25). Also, same as in Džajić's thread, if it's not too big problem, can you fix the letters in the Info?

9. His Era could be expanded to 1958-1962. In that period he was unstoppable.

Agreed with everything other than with ACC. I think 80-82 for TS and 86 for ACC would actually fit him fairly well. However, I would definitely lower his DS. 89 is a pretty large value, and he was all about tricks and agility. He almost never used his speed. Which reminds me, I could see him getting reds for his AGI, easily. 95, no problem. Possibly even more. Yeah, I know he is small, but so are many other players like Maradona, Garrincha, or Messi.

I didn't raise Acceleration. I've raised Agility to 96 (from 94) and lowered DS to 86 (from 89). I hope he looks better now.

I was abscent for a while due to my job. I have to say a few words about adjustments you've made.
Seki was never a fast player, but ball was allways sticked to his feet. So, I see obvious difference between TS and DS. I can accept Rubedo's values although I think that mine emulate him better.
Thanks for completing his stats (cards...). I'm still prefering PES on PS2 over next-gen.
To have real Seki in your PES you should give him DRIBBLE STYLE 3/4.

That's covered with his DA. DS is basically how fast you are with the ball compared to your Top Speed.

You're right. Basic meaning of DS is how much speed does player lose with ball, compared to TS. As someone said it can be calculated this way: On the ball speed= TS/100 * DS . But the problem appears because of multiple meaning of some of player's abilities. DS is one of them. It also represents how many close contacts player makes with ball while running with it. So, higher DS, player makes more contacts and viceversa.

He needs a higher STA.

It's true that he didn't really run a lot, but STA: 80 + such a low MEN will kill him as the match progresses, which would be unrealistic. I don't remember he ever fell on his ass near the end of the game.

I would give him 83. It should suit him well.

This is exactly the period where despite all his success as a player, he experienced severe injury trouble, I think Injury Tolerance C should be considered.

As far as I know his injury period starts from 1962/1963 season, and this is period until 1962/1963 season. Maybe I'm wrong, but I only know that he had 2 knee injuries in 1962/1963 season, and a year or two after that he kept having problems with his spine.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but I don't think he was super injury prone. Comparing that period with 1962/1966 it seems to me that he was still B during 1958/1962 (or something between B and C, but since we only have 3 injury types, I would say more closer to B). Also, let's not forget the fact that he was always targeted from opposition's defenders, who acted even harsher since he liked to dribble and even made some of them look foolish. It was unavoidable to have a few injuries during his prime (except if he was a player who's especially resistant to injuries).

From 1962/1963 forward, he became super injury prone as I explained in my previous post.

I see he is selected in All-Time Yugoslavia XI here. Is he better than Stojkovic for sure ? I just doubt because he seems to be too one manshow. Did he not destroy system of the team ?

I am watching a match for him (the final for the Eruo cup ) . He is amazing in DS . He runs quickly with the ball . Nobody can take it easily of him . And he has some stamina . Two players wanted to stop him strongly , but he standed and made over to the striker .
