Valencia joined Manchester United in June 2009 for a fee believed to be in the region of £16 million from Wigan and impressed in his first season at Old Trafford with a number of assists and seven goals for the club.

The right winger began his career with CD El Nacional in his native Ecuador and having made his international debut in 2005 in a 5-2 World Cup qualifying win against Paraguay - marking the occasion by scoring two goals - he was snapped up as a 19-year-old by Spanish side Villarreal for £1.2 million. But after failing to break into the Yellow Submarine first team, he was loaned out to Recreativo Huelva as he adjusted to football in Europe. In 2006, his performances at the World Cup caught the eye and Wigan signed him on loan for the following season.

The Ecuador international spent three years with Wigan Athletic, initially on loan for 18 months before sealing a permanent switch in January 2008. An impressive campaign in 2007-08 saw him linked with moves to Liverpool and United as he became one of the most important players for the Latics. Another consistent season followed and having been tracked by United manager Sir Alex Ferguson for some time, the Red Devils beat off reported competition from Real Madrid to sign the winger.

He made his debut for United in the 2009 Community Shield and netted his first goal against Bolton Wanderers in October 2009, keeping a frustrated Nani out of the team or at least consigned to his unfavoured left-wing position for much of the season thanks to a series of lively performances. He will likely be a key figure once more in United's 2010-11 campaign.

Strengths: Pace in abundance and a direct approach have made the Ecuadorian one of the most-feared wingers in the Premier League. His ability to find Wayne Rooney's head from pinpoint crosses was the source of many a goal for United in the 2009-10 season.

Weaknesses: A tendency to over-complicate things and not deliver the early ball can frustrate, while his defending leaves a little to be desired. Needs to add more goals to his game.

This guy is a macine! He destroyed Jarvis for pace yesterday running to the ball. His TS should be 92 - as he is just about as fast as Bale, and more effective. Acc should be 90 as he is very, very quick off the mark. Shoudln't he get even better balance too as he never gets knocked off the ball? His strength and pace is why he figured as a fullback for a couple of games earlier this season.

Don't know about higher speed, think his BAL is fine though.
His STA could use a raise though, he seems to have this endless tank of energy. I'd put him well above CR7, though maybe he could use a little decrease. And tbh I'd even put him above Bale, I was thinking about a 94?
His ATT needs a raise for his intelligent play and ability to cause so much danger. I could see him on 81/82. Him and Nani have very different styles but he's just as effective, arguably even more.
And his LPA should go up imo. We're (a bit) harsh on LPA in general imo. The top crossers out there today, and I know that there aren't too many of them, are so far away from the max and the gaps are too small. The differences are much bigger in real life compared to how we tend to do it here (LPA 78 is a poor value, LPA 80 is a good value). Valencia doesn't have that curling advantage others have, most are very straight but very accurate. I could see him on 88/89 tbh. Other players would also need to be reviewed of course but let's start here.

And finally I've always seen him as SA>ST myself. His placement is decent though no more than decent technically. I'd suggest to raise his SA to a 78 but decrease his ST by one or two points.
EDIT: AGG could use 2 point boost too.

I agree ... and suggest that the TS could get to 92 and increase your ACC to 89, is a born sprinter

Yeah I'd agree with your suggestions Mr Evans. You're probably right about widening the range for LPA, good idea.

Also, I originally argued against high ATT thinking of it in different terms. What I was thinking though, was better replicated by low TW. I too would go as high as 81/82 now.

About TW, I'd go even lower. I know it seems unusual but with high response for an SMF (quite rightly so - could even go up another point) he stays more on the wings with even lower TW. I've been using something between 70-72.

I think either his DS or his ACC need to go up. The reason he is so effective despite his one-footed-ness is because he can shift the ball so quickly but I don't know which stat would represent that best.

I also disagree with a white teamwork. He rucks inside a lot now a days to link up with our strikers. Welbeck's goal against the Arse is a perfect example.

Agree with Mr. Evans suggestions. Also, im against a TW decrease, he is a very supportive player, always available for his teammates, is more often this at NT because sometimes he is used as CMF, almost never at Man Utd. Higher BB isn't necessary, he isvery strong but higher values would make him too much strong. I am the only one that thinks his first touch and ball control is higher than currents?

Updated. Left TW untouched for now, DA as well as I'm not sure on higher. Also added Flicking Skills, he's one of the few players I've actually seen using the skill a couple of times.

I'd say the 92 top speed is justified there isn't that much of gap between him and Bale when he's at his rip-roaring best.

Attack is difficult to rate when comparing wingers with different styles. I agree with a raise as he contributes so much to attacking moves nowadays, but Young and Nani to get into more dangerous goal-scoring positions more frequently, so how can this be replicated? Maybe the large gap in teamwork/response konami seemed to give him by comparison?

No matter what I suggest, I will probably end up overrating him.

I don't think that anyone that watches Man Utd regularly will disagree that he is simply the main player that makes the team tick, last season he made the difference when he came back from the long term injury, he started this season on the bench thanks to the big money signing of Ashley Young, and was forced to play at right back because of injuries, but when he was given the chance he rediscovered his last season form.
