Fantasista's sets-Young Messi

Postby Fantasista » 2011 Oct 14, 20:19

As everybody in this section I'll post some of my sets. Suggestions and even criticism are welcome but be constructive and stick to the topic please. No spam.
Appreciation and applause are welcome as well.
SETS:

PS. Decided not to give cards to the players. I've never really tested them. Basing almost only on their descriptions isn't enough. Plus I play PES 6 mostly ;)

bssm wrote:The Ronaldo thing isn't a myth having a lively ten minutes and maybe scoring a goal, then sulking and vanishing for the rest of the game is what he has done pretty much every big game.
He hasn't really shown up for a big game since the CL final against Chelsea. At least 8 of his goals last season were when basically everyone was secure in their place and Barcelona had already won the title. 8 penalties last season and 8 penalties(1/3 of his league goals) already this season.

So what, penalties are now "lesser" goals? No effort required to score them? They're not important?

By the way, what I've bolded is false.

In his first season at Madrid, he did relatively well in the first Clásico (away at Barcelona) considering he was injured, although it's true he missed an easy chance. He played well in the second Clásico, the best player of Madrid by far even if he didn't score. Also played well in the first leg vs. Lyon, in fact Reveillere should have been sent off by straight red after a vicious tackle on him, and the ref also ignored a penalty by Lloris.

Second season: the best R. Madrid player at the 5-0 defeat at Barcelona, was clearly fouled by Valdés inside the area with 2-0 but the ref didn't see it (or didn't want to see it). At Bernabeu he didn't play well (Mourinho placed him as a lone striker) but still scored from penalty spot. Played decently vs. Lyon and Spurs in the UCL, also against Barça in the semi-final. Then played well in the Cup final and scored the winning goal.

This season? Clearly wasn't fit in the first Supercup match vs. Barça, did better in the second leg and scored. Didn't play well in the first league Clásico, yes, but did ok in the first cup match (scored) and better in the second (scored again). Has also scored important goals in important domestic matches versus relatively strong teams like Valencia. 24 goals plus 6 assists in 20 league matches so far this season, and right now he's probably playing more team-wise (participating in the build-up play, helping his swiftback at defensive tasks when needed, pressuring, etc) than ever since arrived at Madrid.

So all in all, I don't think he performs badly in important matches. Has better and worse evenings, like everyone else. His overall performances against Barcelona haven't been as good as Real fans would like but they also haven't been as bad as it's often said. At least the "he can't score against Barça" part was dropped after the cup final.

And yep, this is offtopic territory, I'd agree to leave it here.

The only thing i'd fixed is his WFA and WFF...i think he's better at 8/7.

I'd rather give him 8/8, but I don't think he was able to become a 100% two-footed player ;)

Well if I follow PSD standards then he would be similar to 97-99 Ronaldo from classic section, which is ts:92 and acc:96. But the thing is, I do not.

Yes, I know, lots of reds here. But I believe he deserves those. He was such a amazing player, incredible athlete. Fast, strong, endurant and powerful. Stamina is a bit over the top but without it he can't make constant runs during the whole match and if are unlucky and play extra time he'll be dead.

As we all know he was the most offensive and dangerous left back ever so 81 att and 94 agg is fully justified. I was thinking of even god region agg but he would be too close to the box then while he usually stayed a little closer to the midfield to have more space where he could use his great speed.

I've never had any doubts about his shooting. 99 Shot Power, period. I don't understand any discussions about it. But the thing are other stats. Basing of his some of famous goals, especially free kick vs France in 97' he should have 99 curve too. But the thing is it was one particular goal. Beckham was showing higher amount of swerve much more constantly IMO. Original value given by PSD-97 is absolutely enough to perform banana shots without exaggeration of the effect.

His phisical abilities made him very underestimated in technical aspects while he was very good in it. Had really no problems with trapping any balls, showed very decent control while dribbling and could keep pace doing it(although 90+ values given by PSD and Konami are very overrated). Of course when he had opportunity he prefered classic punt and run style to take whole advantage of his speed.

In his first few years in madird, he wasn't that strong. It was later years when he started to pack on muscle. His defending got much better in his later years as well.

I wouldn't give him less than 83 tbh. He was unbeatable when racing shoulder to shoulder with opponets not only due to his speed but also strength and balance he could keep. And this set is kind a summing up of his best performances. R.C. have been keeping very high level for a very long time and I wanted to have 1 Prime sets that include his most important successes. Of course it could be divided into 2 and there would some differences in speed, balance, def etc but it wasn't my intention.
As for def you're right but I wouldn't say he got much better. And there was bigger difference between R.C from 97' and early 2000s than from early 2000s and his last years in Madrid IMO.

Didn't want to do this but I wanted to share my thoughts on him and since classic CR thread is locked this is the only way to do this. This set is of course based on the current one in classic section. It only has some tweaks here and there.

I wasn't sure on att. It definetely needs to go up with this whole revolution of rating attack but the thing is by how many pts? I think 91 is a fine value. Combined with others stats he'll be just as dangerous as he was back than. But again I'm not stick to this.

The hardest thing to replicate was his dribbling. I was trying a lot but almost always he was damn to effective and efficient. First thought that came up to my mind was that CR was a beast in tricks, step-overs but not a superb precise dribbler, especially at speed. Usually he slowed down, perform some tricks and then passed the opponent using mostly his acceleration. Of course he could run with the ball very quickly but his control wasn't that amazing as you can think at a glance. The skill that really made the difference in CR case was his fantastic agility which is crucial if you want to do tricks some efficientely and quickly. The other aspect was his balance. After WC 06 he changed a bit and wasn't diving that much but still he was losing too many physical duels(on purpose or without it, doesn't matter) to deserve yellow value(tbh for younger days he should have sth like 72). With lower balance it's much harder to pass the defender and playing him feels much more realistic.

TW was lowered basing on the new standards and it's great now. He's more selfish and you never see him going to middle of the pitch, he's on side or around the box, nowhere else. Mentality is pretty much self-explanatory. He improved in this area but still even now can't get out of green. Stamina went up a bit because he was so active and you could rarely see him really tired(not to mention how he play when sta bar goes low with this ment).

So that's it. My view on CR. Hope you'll enjoy it and it will be used in classic section ;)

CR7 07/08 DA=90? Are you kidding. His DA was definitely outstanding. Many defenders could not defend against his DA. He deserves 95
