- Specialist in free kicks and also a hard shooter (therefore his nickname, wich means cannon), Renato was named by the press and fans one of the most important players in Flamengo's triumph in the 2006 Brazil Cup. In the same year he won CBF's "Bola de Ouro"(Golden Ball), wich is given to the best player throughout the Brazilian League.
Renato started his football career in Santa Catarina playing at MarcÃlio Dias and Joinville.In 2000, he moved away to SÃ£o Paulo and played in UniÃ£o SÃ£o JoÃ£o de Araras.A year later, Renato was transferred to Guarani.
Because of his great performances he was bought by Corinthians where he won some titles, such as Torneio Rio-SÃ£o Paulo, Copa do Brasil and Campeonato Paulista.
Renato was considered a great footballer during his time at Flamengo between 2005 and 2007.
Renato was Flamengo's top scorer in 2005 and 2006. It was during 2006 he again won the Copa do Brasil.In 2007, Renato continued playing well and winning championships with Flamengo; He went on to win the TaÃ§a Guanabara and Campeonato Carioca.
But in July 10, 2007, Flamengo announced his transfer to Al-Nasr, a club in the UAE. Renato is playing for Al-Shabab, another club from UAE.
