but with all respect, relying on titles, Spain do not have many, what is the title of raúl? in that team that i did you can put Raul in Gento's place, with Puskas in the left-midfield and Raul OR Villa as a CF

No way for both suggestions:
First, it doesn't matter there isn't a destroyer there, the good treatment of the ball is more important, ask to current FCB.
Second, Quincoces + Segarra + Basora >>>>>> Nadal + Sergi + Víctor Muñoz.

It's not really my place to say, as I'm not Spanish :P, but I still find it odd how only 3 of the starting 11 and only 6 out of the 23 man squad are from the 2010 World Cup winners.

Like, why does Gordillo deserve to be there over Capdevilla? I mean, they're both similar players, but what did Gordillo win for Spain? Capdevilla has been the first choice left back for Spain in both the European Championships and the World Cup wins yet he's not even in the reserves? For me, he was one of their most important players as without him, and to a similar degree Ramos on the other flank, Spain would have had arguably no width whatsoever going forward. It's hard for me to avoid saying it, but it's an attitude which is portrayed in a lot of the Classics teams. People just seem too wary about including players that are playing currently over players who played decades ago for no reason other than that it is easy to glorify players of the past. If you glorify a player of the present then you are automatically labelled a fanboy or someone who doesn't know or understand football history. In some cases that is right, but in others, it is just wrong. How can David Villa not be in the starting eleven? It's just insane. It's like we're scrutinising the current crop and whether or not they deserve a place, it's madness when it is the current crop of players who have created history for Spain. I just don't understand how you can look past winning the World Cup! If Spain had won the World Cup in the 70's you can guarantee that this squad would be 75% of that team yet because they won it only last year, there are only 6 players in the squad. It's just wrong imo.

EDIT: The picture used for the 'Team Roster' just sums it up for me.

Capdevila has a lot of merit. He has to be the most limited player In the NT yet one of the most important. I also think Villa has to be in the starting 11, and also Raúl. But It's hard to think about a player like di Stefano out of the 11. To me he should ...
And yes, change the photo.

Also you're right, S.Ramos was one of the most important players and one of the best performers on those tournaments (Much better of Madrid's S.Ramos)

Thanks Jez. I did not notice It, but I'm very sad that It had to be someone that Is not Spanish who said It.
Was very kind from you to stop by here and say IT clear. :)

It just bugs me that current players are held in such low regard compared to there past counterparts. It's like nobody even bats an eyelid at Spain winning the World Cup! If England had won it, I'd still be out celebrating now! I don't think I'd be composed enough to type anything on here for months! And the England All Star team would certainly look a lot different to what it does now ;)

What I think should be done in Spains case, is that you take the 23 players from the World Cup winning squad, and you go through the positions and think 'does anyone in Spains history genuinly deserve to take this guys place?' I mean yeah, obviously the likes of Jesus Navas aren't gonna be in Spains all time team, but your Piques, Capdevillas, Xabi Alonsos etc should easily be making the squad in my opinion.

It'd be different if Spain had won the World Cup more than once, take Brazil and Italy for example; their All Star Teams both include 5 players from their latest World Cup wins, but they've won the thing 5 and 4 times respectively so have a huge pool of good and successful (successful being the key word) players to choose from. Spain on the other hand have only won it one time! Take the French All Star team, that includes 10 players from the '98 World Cup winning side! 7 of which are placed in the starting eleven. It's not as though the French aren't blessed with an extraordinary back catalogue of players either, much like the Spanish, but because the World Cup is the pinnacle of football, it's clear that this has been recognised when creating the squad. The same should be done here.

Don't get me wrong, I stopped making classics teams on my game some time ago now, so I'm happy if it takes another 10 years for it to become acceptable for more players from 2010 to be included.

Re: Spain All Stars

The priority I like to use for National all Star teams is that first choice goes to the best players ever to play for the country unless they have very few caps. Then when deciding against two players with similar ability, national team importance comes into play. I'll look over the other squads but trust me there's no real bias, compare the amount of players included from the current Spain world cup/euro squad era compared to the Euro 64 winning squad for example, 7 to 3 I believe. There was actually even more included from the current era but space was made to move Kubala and Di Stefano across from Hungary and Argentina all stars; probably the two best players ever to play for Spain even if they weren't Spanish. :P

You may have a point about Capdevila but what about someone like Chendo? He was just as good if not better than Sergio Ramos but ive chosen him because of his influence in the euro/ world cup win. The same thing could be said about Zamora/ Cassilas and maybe Guardiola/Xavi . Its not like Gordillo did nothing for the national team either he was ever present in the team for 10 years, representing them in 5 tournaments where they came close winning the final in 1988. I'd probably agree to adding Capdevila and Xabi Alonso and maybe swap Hierro or Pirri for Ramos in the first XI

Villa was in the starting XI beforehand before Di Stefano came along and stole his thunder 8-) . I'll add him again for Raul who was the better player imo but Villa's contribution to the Euro/world cup wins and being Spain's top scorer means he should be ahead of him.

In my opinion Raúl absolutely has to be in Spain's starting line up. Here's my suggestion:

-------------------------------Casillas----------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------Puyol-----------------Hierro (c)---------------Camacho------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------Pirri-------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------Xavi------------------------------------------Gento----------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------Luis Suárez------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------Di Stéfano--------------------------Raúl------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------David Villa--------------------------------

Seeing all the others teams formation and comparing with Spain's formation, this formation (Spain) seems just weird and unbalanced, with a lot of offensive players and poor defensive players.
Maybe it would be better to take the 2010 WC formation and fill with the best players ever from Spain, so it doesn't look weird and weak like this actual one.
In my head, this team would score but also would suffer a lot more goals, losing all matches against a Top Tier Team, as Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Germany, Holland, Uruguay and England.

Soon I will post what I would think is the best formation for Spain.

All Time Spain:

--------------- R. Zamora --------------

------ J. Quincoces -- F.Hierro -------
C. Puyol ------------------- J. Camacho

------------- Pirri -----------------------
------------------------ Xavi ------------

-------------- L.Suarez -----------------

--------- Raúl G.------------- F. Gento
-------------- D. Villa (T. Zarra) -------

Now, this Spain would be a cohesive, hard and technical team!! :D

I have 2 name suggestions for the Reserves list: Isidro Lángara and Ángel Zubieta.

Isidro Lángara was a CF that played in the WC'34 and won the Pichichi award 3 times.

Ángel Zubieta was a Right-Half (Half Derecho) with a short career in Spain (one national title with Athletic Bilbao) but a very prestigious career in Argentina playing for San Lorenzo.

I really don't know if they deserve a spot in the 23 squad, but I just felt they deserved a mention.

Bravo!!! probably you'll win the contest to the worst post of the year

Unnecessary comment, IMHO. Further considering it was like 50-60 years ago!!! I supouse you're so young to know in the 50's the nationality changes was a common thing, in those years you could find so much player who changed his nationality to play in a better team. They played with Spain with an old age and always because they choose to play with Spain, so you can't consider it as a robber.

This Award Exist? :D

Well, I know that di Stefano has more games in Spain than in Argentina, and even as a symbol of Real Madrid.
But it is also an emblem for Argentina, maybe not as much as maradona or messi but it is. He was born in Argentina and grew up and learned their skills there and then went to Colombia and from there then to Madrid.

I do not think you fence to remove from the team, but at least it then appears in Argentina classic, even if shared, would be just enough.

Spain, and Spain only, deserves to have Di Stefano on their All Stars.
I don't think Kubala should be there though.
