DS is the percentage of speed the player is able to retain with respect to his speed of the ball right. Theoretically if Pulhac is faster with than without the ball his DS should be 99.
Exactly.
But it would look very very wierd.
I understand the debate here but, lets take what everyone has said into consideration. If Pulhac is faster ON the ball than OFF (and I would agree), then that would suggest to me Pulhac's personal choice to move more freely and speedily when in possession, and more calm and collected out of possession - as opposed to that of a more standard defender. I think we are all in agreement he is slightly different in this respect.
But also, a point made earlier was that "DS is the percentage of speed the player is able to retain with respect to his speed off the ball". Which is true.
Considering this, and that percentage only works to 100% - even if we score Pulhac at 99 DS - that is only 99% of his Top Speed, which is 1% less than his speed OFF of the ball.
So, even if we were to score him at 99 DS - whether it looks weird or not (the idea is to get each player accurate to their ability right?) he'll never be faster on the ball within the game.
For example if my Top Speed is 50
And my Dribble Speed is 50
Then due to the percentage rule, when I am on the ball - my DS is 25 (50% of 50).
Similarly if my Top Speed is 50
And my Dribble Speed is 90
Then due to the percentage rule, when I am on the ball - my DS is 45 (90% of 50).
I think regardless of if it looks weird, it is how he plays - so we should score him right on here.
Perhaps a few points higher on DS (raise the percentage) - with the addition of a slightly higher Acceleration, that might seem more like a burst of speed when in possession.
