This is Carles Puyol, a word-class defender and the loyal captain of Barca. One of the most hardworking defenders ever, he gives 100% in all his performances. Gifted with great strengh and amazing speed he can eliminate even the quickest strikers. He is also a potent threat when he gets up in attack and he can also play as an aggressive side back to support the flanks. I know the stats look like the defaults but KONAMI did ok with him and I also expect a discussion here

I think that the response should stay where it is, but the acceleration could be lowered because he's not that fast but with the high response he'd still be quick enough to defend against great attackers.

Red's stats seem a bit strange espicially the team-work and defence values. Sure his positioning is great well worthy of a 91/92 but 95 is ridiculous.

Well, we all know that Red's standards are different then ours, so don't be surprised to see 95 in Defence. But to be honest, I like this set of stats in some areas. Maybe we can make a compromise. At the moment people have agreed in 86 Acceleration so the 1st post can be updated.

Now what about increasing his Stamina? Not something drastic, but a 1-2 point boost. This will separate him from Abidal and Senna. And If I remember well we had an ongoing discussion about his Balance in the previous forum. Who agrees with 87 Balance?

I agree with Naud.. Puyol is the classic type of defender who has well develop physical area but he still has excellent tackling abilities and positional sense.. very much like Nesta..

and Sandro's rated at 95 which is six points above.. I believe this gap is ridiculous.. and surely Nesta shouldn't be lowered..

IMO his positioning shouldn't be at world class level. He has a god phisical qualities, with good response, but his postioning is not at orange numbers level. You can notice that he is sometimes out of positiong, but he compesates this perfectly with other qualities. And this is more noticeable when he plays for NT (i still remember some big positioning mistakes in the last world cup...) Terry, ferdinand, nesta and even cannavaro are better at positioning. I think his DEF should be keep at 89, but rise his response, he is the best reacting and reading.

Yes he could be the best, i think he is the best, but not thanked to his great positioning... OMG... he shouldn't on par with cannavaro or over terry and ferdinand.... his response is the key!

I wouldn't raise his Defence. What makes Puyol a great defender is his never-say-die and not his positional sense. I think that what needs to be raised is his Teamwork, yes, Puyol is suberb at linking with teammates all over the pitch, and IMO he should be on par or even higher than Paolo Maldini.

how could we say he deserves 87 for BB while he didnt show any special power on battels against Tevez and Rooney?

ok, he wasnt stronger than tevez IN ONE MATCH, but what about the great strength he has been showing during 10 years in La Liga?
