ABOUT THIS TEAM:

The Brazilian side which won the World Cup in 1970 is widely regarded as the greatest footballing side of all time as they swept to a record third World Cup victory in the searing heat of Mexico, with a superb blend of attacking football. With a forward line comprised of Pele, Jairzinho and Tostao, the midfield was run by the master-passer Gerson and the splendid Rivelino. The strength of their defence could only be rated at average, but their attack was so strong that, except in the 1-0 win over England, they always score three or more goals in the tournament.

" If I have seen a little further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants." - Isaac Newton

Could we add that to the title, "the greatest football team ever"?

Yes, it's better than Cruyff's programmed (to be stars) robots.

Football has died along with the amateurism, after the world championship 1970. and winning the title for Brazil, football was never the same...

Carlos Alberto--Brito--Piazza--Everaldo--

------------Clodoaldo------Gerson---------------

Jairzinho-------------Pele----------------Rivelino

------------------Tostao-----------------------

Tostão threw back to the opponent goal, making the pivot for the players who were approaching the attack, Jair by right side, Pele at the center and the left Rivelino. Revolutionary scheme it does not have a center-foward _bra . Gerson was the long passes to the attack, at least four goals each left their feet.

Five players were ten in their club shirt. Pele (Santos), Rivelino (Corinthians), Jair (Botafogo), Tostão (Cruzeiro) and Gerson (Sao Paulo).
