Nickname: "The Mustang"

***

Nickname: "The Mustang"

Club: F.C. Internazionale Milano

Growth type: Standard

INFO:

Spoiler: show
There was a time when Quaresma was one of the few good reasons to pay a ticket for a Portuguese league game. His numbers in this two seasons are impressive: 14 goals and 24 assists made him the most valuable player in the team, with direct influence on one third of all Porto goals in the Portuguese league. His relevance for the three time in a row Portuguese champion was so massive that the team was hooked on his creativity.

Quaresma, aka "The Mustang", took on his shoulders the task of making the difference, of breaking the balance. He shot, crossed, assisted, took corners and free-kicks more than anyone else both in Porto and the whole league.

He was also the only dragon to score in the league from a free-kick in these two seasons, and he was the one who suffered more fouls, being the player who cause the highest number of yellow cards to be shown.

But there's much more about him than the just these numbers. There's the magic dribbles, the laser guided crosses, the "trivelas", oh my God the trivelas. And in between some moments that are true odds to the beauty of the game, like the goal against Belgium.

Despite his rare talent Quaresma always divided opinions, having admirers and critics in about the same measure to the point of being booed by Porto suporters.
Maybe because Quaresma is not your ordinary professional football player. Quaresma doesn't read the game, he feels it. He doesn't think football, it's intuitive. Sometimes one can't help thinking that is more what you would see on the streets rather than what u expect to see in a stadium. His football is wild and the years go by but he's still raw, untamed. Maybe that's why they call him "The Mustang".

He'll hardly change his style in order to adapt to the circumstances, to his moment of shape or to the opponent being faced. He plays too much about for fans and the worst thing is that sometimes they don't like what they see, labeling him as selfish and getting frustrated with his unnecessary dribbles and lost balls. It can get to the point were it seems like he is the only element of a fourth team on the pitch: Quaresma F.C.!

Many managers have rejected him: Rijkaard didn't like him at Barcelona, Scolari never gave him a real chance in the national team, and Sacchi thinks he is an average player. After the great success enjoyed at Porto Quaresma is having a hard time trying to establishing himself in a major European club. Not even the "Special One" will ever manage to tame "The Mustang" without taking his spirit away from him.

And Quaresma will never be able to prove the World that he is one of the most talented footballers around.

These sets look strange. How come he's better than he was when he was as Porto?

Maybe older members remember that p1rha had a bit different and harsher standards in creating stats. I assume that 2006-2007 stats looks a bit weird because of that.

If there are reasonable suggestions on how to update Quaresma 2006-2007 stats, I'll be glad to read them and apply them if more members agree. ;)

maybe the key isn't to change this set, but his current one...
i played with this set many times, with a classic porto version, and the computer used to place him many times in the starting eleven, ahead players like Futre and Carlos Duarte. Except some minor twicks, he's fine as he is... if you say Quaresma's current stats are better than this ones, i think the ones needing to be changed is that set, and not so much this one...
One i thing i just realized, the set i have isn't exactly this one, maybe Pirha changed it after he created him?... I have him with 92 in curling, 94 in agility, and 88 for acceleration... maybe we could change him back to these values??
i also had him with 90 in technique, but 88 is fine... don't think it needs a change there.

I believe one should watch every single one of those 10+2 games he played this season and see how influential he is to the team, before making assumptions about his current and future set. Till now, he arguebly played better than he was in Porto, with addition of team spirit and he also adopted a combative style (when he loses a ball, he gets it back by himself) to his offensive capabilities.

In fact, the material from his Portugal days, those trivelas, rabonas, dribbles, speed, mustang-like power you see in every fan clips of him till know, he provided much more in just 10 games in Besiktas.

how can you claim that he alreaddy played better in just 10 games at besiktas than in his entire career in Porto, where he played his best games ever???? combative astyle? he alreaddy displayed that before in porto aswell, when he lost a ball he used to try to recover it also, many times with harsh tackles, mean fouls, dangerous plays... team spirit??? i'll bellieve that when i see it (it it'll be soon, when besiktas plays with Porto in Uefa cup)...

Actually his TEC was fabulous. 88 doesn't make him enough justice. I'd have Classic Quaresma with TEC 91.

Even 91 is a small figure for him... seriously, how can you leave Quaresma on Tec 88?

Didnt PLF give him 96 for technique years ago? :D How about 93 on par with Robinho.

I like your suggestion. Robinho and prime Quaresma are very similar with each other as players. I'd agree with that figure.

Also how can he have 66 Mentality and 70 Team Work at his prime?! He was much more hard working and had quite a better team vision then this values say.

Whoa, I didn't see that. That's REALLY underdo for classic Quaresma.

BTW, nice pic.
