PLAYER INFO
He hasn´t changed much since then, the main difference is that Inter saw in him what Real didn´t.

This was the puppy that Real couldn´t raise properly. A rather skilled center-half, with great sharpness in the cut and a modern day gladiator.

In these 2 season at Madrid he played 55 games, but never managed to score. Hi was more of a "stooper" than a creator back in these days. He was the one that set up the amazing pass that hit Dutch player Pauwee and enter the net in the 2002 UEFA Supercup against Feyenoord, one of his best games with the Merengue team, as well as the Intercontinental Cup final against Olimpia in 2002.

I remember watching him and asking myself, "is this baldie the proper replacement for the great, great Redondo?" Maybe I was a lil´ bit ahead of my time, but he proved to be, later, a worthy successor of Fernando, only not in the same team. Another Galactico who wasn´t a Galactico until he left The Galacticos, quite the paradox, huh?

HONOURS PREVIOUSLY AND WITH REAL MADRID:
River Plate: Torneo Clausura (2002)
Real Madrid: UEFA Supercup (2002) / Spanish Liga (2002-2003) / Spanish Supercup (2003) / Intercontinental Cup (2003)
Argentina U-20: South American Youth Championship (1997) / South American Youth Championship (1999) / FIFA U-20 World Cup

Enjoy!

senseless discussion ... they dropped players just as good ... recent examples Robben, Sneijder ... older ones Makelele, Eto'o, Samuel, Seedorf

Because he was a normal player, and to be honest he was not that promising, I remember him in a Real-Juventus and he didn't impress anyone. Inter bought him for free, and he had to be the reserve of Cristiano Zanetti and Davids. Surprisingly, he showed good things in summer and was able to steal the place to Davids, and managed to form a good pair with Veron. The rest of history is known by all, he become a worldclass player, but its best feature is undoubtedly the humility. He's surely an Inter legend.

Updated to fit "new" standards. Hes finally not useless next to classic DMF's.
I really question the accuracy of that second set....

2 years into his inter carrer and well on his way to being established as one of the best all round DMF's in the world. Watching him back in these years, it's easy to see how good he is technically, his adventorous through balls which are a staple in cambiassos play, where much more frequent and accurate back then.

what should be done with his real madrid set? It's mostly just random, could just delete and replace with early day inter set?

Real Madrid set needs a revamp for sure, but I wouldn't delete it. He started to mature as a player when he joined Inter... at Madrid he didn't really look like anything special, it could also be argued that the style and rythm of the italian league suited him better.

It's total guesswork though, and it's in the oldest of standards. And standards aside, it doesn't bear any resemblance to the type of player he was then. It's just wrong and I doubt anyone has the recent knowledge or effort to watch matches just to correct it.

Don't underestimate me

I got some Barça vs. Madrid matches (and chunks of matches) from the early 00s, I'm pretty sure he appears in some of them, will try to give it a look. I agree our set is pure guesswork (it looks like just a 'minor' version of his Inter self, which is totally wrong IMO as Cambiasso was a different player back then). Konami's sets prior to PES 2009 (if I'm not mistaken) may also be of some help (they left him outdated for years prior to Inter's 'resurrection' in the late 00s and early 10s).

earlier pes setswon't really be of any help, he had too little exposure for them to care, + it's the old, old games where stats are off when he was in madrid. cambiasso was more of a playmaker kinda of guy back then... it's the wrong word, but he was good at creating plays and opening defences and that showed right from the start at inter
