senseless discussion ... they dropped players just as good ... recent examples Robben, Sneijder ... older ones Makelele, Eto'o, Samuel, Seedorf

Because he was a normal player, and to be honest he was not that promising, I remember him in a Real-Juventus and he didn't impress anyone. Inter bought him for free, and he had to be the reserve of Cristiano Zanetti and Davids. Surprisingly, he showed good things in summer and was able to steal the place to Davids, and managed to form a good pair with Veron. The rest of history is known by all, he become a worldclass player, but its best feature is undoubtedly the humility. He's surely an Inter legend.

Updated to fit "new" standards. Hes finally not useless next to classic DMF's.
I really question the accuracy of that second set....

what should be done with his real madrid set? It's mostly just random, could just delete and replace with early day inter set?

Real Madrid set needs a revamp for sure, but I wouldn't delete it. He started to mature as a player when he joined Inter... at Madrid he didn't really look like anything special, it could also be argued that the style and rythm of the italian league suited him better.

It's total guesswork though, and it's in the oldest of standards. And standards aside, it doesn't bear any resemblance to the type of player he was then. It's just wrong and I doubt anyone has the recent knowledge or effort to watch matches just to correct it.

Don't underestimate me

I got some Barça vs. Madrid matches (and chunks of matches) from the early 00s, I'm pretty sure he appears in some of them, will try to give it a look. I agree our set is pure guesswork (it looks like just a 'minor' version of his Inter self, which is totally wrong IMO as Cambiasso was a different player back then). Konami's sets prior to PES 2009 (if I'm not mistaken) may also be of some help (they left him outdated for years prior to Inter's 'resurrection' in the late 00s and early 10s).

earlier pes setswon't really be of any help, he had too little exposure for them to care, + it's the old, old games where stats are off when he was in madrid. cambiasso was more of a playmaker kinda of guy back then... it's the wrong word, but he was good at creating plays and opening defences and that showed right from the start at inter

I am willing to help with Madrid set for Cambiasso. It's really needed.

BTW I find some values in 06 set really odd, especially compared to prime set.
For instance in 06 he has 78 fka and 85 tech, in prime 68 fka, tech 82. I don't recall him being even a decent free kick taker, but I might be wrong yet how would he got so much worse in a few years while getting better and better overally as a player. Similarly with tech, he couldn't just lost it. On the other hand I don't see him at 85, rather 83-84 range for both sets.

He was actually quite a good free kicker, usually very well placed freekicks. He was just low on the pecking order with players like figo and what not, but later on in his inter carrer it was on display more often. Doesn't really need 78 for 09/10 set, but somewhere a little lower would be much better than his 68. Regarding his tech, I'd go with 85 throughout his entire carrer... that 83 is just conservative due to the fact that it's rarely on display in his later days, but it had been a proven value throughout his career, albeit less consistently in later years due to playing a more reserved role.

I agree he should have the same tech for 06 and 09 set but I'd keep it at 84.

OK so let's say ~75 fka for 09 set. And what about 06? According to what you've said should be lower by a couple points.

Also I think we should extend the eras to cover entire 2006-10 years when Inter completely dominated Serie A and Cambiasso played a huge role in the team. Any idea how it should be done to keep things realistic?

Well, added earlier set I've been working in a while. It was quite hard cause the footage from his river/independiente days is all between vids, highlights from matches from that era and some full matches or long highlights where you have to look at his actions. As someone said in here before he was quite a different player when he emerged...a creative cmf but with all his good defensive skills...but he didn't show it that much because his role was really offensive...he was aggressive as hell, always moving forward and shoting into the box. In these years he scored quite a good amount of goals to a player like him...smth like 14 in 35 in River playing in a great team. Most of them are from the box and in dead balls...also he used to shot a lot from middle distance and using a nice power at his shots. At least in Independiente he was in charge of corners and free kicks and he was quite good at it...probably after this era he didn't show it that often like in early 00's. Probably he was even better technically, he showed his class consistently but as I'm not sure I didn't want to overrate him.

Also added pics in other two sets, reorganizated post and added to DB the 2006 set.
