Well, we do need a Right Back beside Rukavina since Ivanovic is forced to play in this position. I dunno, Basta had his chance earlier but never did show his potential in national squad. Even in U21 he was most of the time in the reserves... Tbh, I didnt saw him play in Udinese but, considering the stats he looks like nt potential

Lately Basta has continuity and has played at a good level, but the strategy of Italian football is not allowed to play offensively. In the games I have seen is not able to attack, I suppose, because of technical indications. Thank you and Go Serbia! _srb

Announced squad for friendly vs Algeria

Defence: Branislav Ivanović, Antonio Rukavina, Nemanja Vidić, Neven Subotić, Aleksandar Luković, Aleksandar Kolarov, Ivica Dragutinović

Boško Janković recovered from his operation and coach Antić recalled him.
Left back, Ivan Obradović from Zaragoza is left out because of his injuries that sidelined him most of the season.
Striker Dejan Lekić, from Red Star Belgrade is, after his debut vs Korea in London, recalled in 1st squad.

Friendly match, 03.03.2010.

Algeria - Serbia 0:3
13′ M. Pantelic [0 - 1]
54′ Z. Kuzmanovic [0 - 2]
64′ Z. Tosic [0 - 3]

All players got their chance on really bad and bumpy pitch in Algeria. Surprisingly, goalie Stojkovic had a very good night, his keeping was almost perfect - great save in 1on1 with Ziani and several parades after Ghezzal and Djebour shots. It is pitty that pitch was in such bad condition and players just got too careful not to get injured. You can see goals in this video below :

i must say your main squad looks really strong but I'm surprised to see so many "no names" in the recently called up list. I'd have thought that your squad was much deeper than that considering the huge amount of talent you guys possess.

Btw. I like this short review you did... I'll do that for the Romanian NT as well from now on ;)

Are you talking about squad vs Algeria or next callups vs Japan ?
Squad vs Algeria is very much the same like it was before, only without Disljenkovic [changed nationality to Ukraine] and Isailovic, goalkeepers. Now, if you are referring to the squad that will be facing Japan in a friendly, it is a different story. Whole squad for that match will be from JSL, 100% domestic players and Antic wont be leading them. Japanese squad agreed to this.

Thanx for support about review, I wanted to do something new for a change ;)

Serbia and Japan agreed for a friendly that will happen @ 7th of April. Serbia will go to Japan with squad with player play only in national league, Jelen Super League. Furthermore, sqaud will lead FK Javor Habitpharm coach, Radovan Ćurčić.
His selection for this match is :

GOALKEEPERS:
Željko Brkić (Vojvodina)
Milan Jovanić (Spartak).

DEFENCE:
Pavle Ninkov (Crvena zvezda)
Miroslav Vulićević (Vojvodina)
Milan Vilotić (Crvena zvezda)
Vojislav Stanković (Partizan)
Milovan Milović (Javor)
Marko Lomić (Partizan)

MIDFIELD:
Radosav Petrović (Partizan)
Ljubomir Fejsa (Partizan)
Nikola Mitrović (Napredak)
Nemanja Tomić (Partizan)
Nikola Beljić (OFK Beograd)
Aleksandar Davidov (Partizan)
Dušan Tadić (Vojvodina).

ATTACK:
Dejan Lekić (Crvena zvezda)
Dragan Mrđa (Vojvodina)
Andrija Kaluđerović (Rad).

Those players from Serbian league will have their chance to prove themselves to national coach Antic and maybe selected for South Africa. I guess that some other names from domestic league should be there but there it is. Like you can see, I made most of them, I am also close to make stats for young and promising striker, currently top one in Serbian league, Andrija Kaludjerovic. I am looking forward to see how they will perform vs japanese side. Cheers !

Friendly match, 07.04.2010. Nagai, Osaka

Japan - Serbia 0:3
15′ D. Mrdja [0 - 1]
23′ D. Mrdja [0 - 2]
60′ N. Tomic [0 - 3]

Japan’s World Cup preparations were rocked on Wednesday evening as they were defeated 3-0 by Serbia at Nagai Stadium in Osaka.
A first half brace from Dragan Mrdja put the Europeans, who like Japan fielded a squad drawn entirely from their domestic league, in control and they never looked back.
- taken from Goal.com review
Only one dark shadow - Ljubomir Fejsa seriously damaged his knee ligaments and propably wont be playing couple of games. All players listed in above post got their chance.

All went well, better then expected here. Guys showed potential and played a very disciplined game. Pitch was almost perfect and all lines were working - even counters [first goal] - good searching balls for Lekic and Mrdja who really made a mess of Japan's defence.
I am satisfied that stats I made for them are very close to their performances, maybe even a bit better

This was yesterday at Newspapers, and its not mr. Radomir Antic's list.
Its just a newspaper's speculation abouth who will get a potential call.
Today or tommorow Antic will relase the list... wait until than.

Edit: Now its a mr. Radomir Antic list :)
Too bad, we have just a 2 real CB's (Vidic and Subotic) .

Probably those players from the list will fell out : keeper (Isailovic) , Matic or Sulejmani , and Lekic or Mrdja at forward line. +1 :)

I hope it will not be injuries!

Wondering why he didn't call Milan Bisevac, who is really better than Jagos Vukovic...Jagos dind't play much this season, unexpected injury in squad will make big problems on CB, even there are alternatives like Lukovic and Ivanovic (in that case RB would be Rukavina :( ).
Also he could gave a chance for Jorgacevic from Belgium, Brkic will have his time in future...
And for attackers, it is very strange for me why is he forcing Lekic so much. For me, he didn't have that quality yet to even be in Red Star, not in the NT (his price is about 5 million euros  )

If he did call Bisevac, considering his years, he should be in first team but it would not be the case obviously... Jagos is young player, he was in all Serbian selections since early years and propably they count on him in a future.
My favorite for a GK spot was Jorgacevic from Gent but, like you, i was wrong, sadly. I agree with you considering Lekic and I must add Petrovic also. Those two are mystery spots...
