Because a higher attack will more likely make a goalkeeper start an attack from the back which is what Reina does. And well for Long Pas sAccuracy, have you not seen his long balls upfield? Imo he should have it higher as should a lot of goalkeepers.

Personally, I think Reina should be much nearer the 90 mark. Cech better. Given, Van der Sar and Lehmann nearby. Gomez, Friedel, Howard nearby.

On his day, I don't think there's a better keeper in the world...I certainly don't think that there are 46 goalkeepers with better Goalkeeping attributes that Pepe Reina.

Reina is always in the top 1 or 2 keepers in clean sheets every year. his 85 rating is rather low. he has what 11 clean sheets in 19 games or so this year?

im new so im not sure who the best keeper is in the PL is. but Reina should atleast be even or higher than that person.

89 or 90 would do.

He barley managed to catch that Geremi free kick from +40 yards (that if you want to talk about yesterday's game kyle in the Hyypia thread )... he's main assets are his reflexes ... when it comes to actually catching the ball he isn't spectacular in any way ...

these things are true. BUT if you want to look at the top keepers in the PL in the past 3 years you have to mention Reina i dont care what his rating is as long as he is in the top 3 or so i would think that is fair.

I really rate keepers like Given, Friedel and maybe even Schwarzer at least as good in GK skills as Reina ... any of those 3 would perform similarly if they would play for a "Big 4" team ... James was the keeper of the year in 2207/2008 and I really doubt that anyone finds that he was really the best ... he was the most reliable and consistent in that season but this season so far he has been decent at most ... rating keepers is a hard thing Gomes was top class in Holland but there he had to keep out only a few shots/match here he has a lot of work to do and is much more exposed to goals

i agree 100% about those keepers. and i think gomes is actually starting to play with more confidence and is probably the most athletic out of all of them.

but if we are doing the ratings based on this season (which we should be) but im not sure how the data base is set, who would be the top rated keeper in the PL?

Currently I guess it would be Cech who hasn't been the best since his sequence of injuries ...

I personally would place Friedel in the place of Given, and VDS ahead of Reina, but since I'm a United fan and you're a Liverpool fan I guess it's natural
