Yoshida is considered as one of the most promising Asian young talents of his generation.

He also received his first call to play for the Japanese "A" national team. (That was about time !)

Club and player are reporting the transfer but VVV are denying the deal is done, their technical director Mario Captein stated in a local newspaper: "We know and are following the player but there's no agreement or deal yet. We first have to sell Honda to be able to purchase a player."

They don't state he's a direct replacement, they just state they need to sell him before they're able to purchase another non-EU player (higher salary issue etc.).

Nagoya Grampus confirmed the transfer in their Japanese website so I moved him.

Honda is probably moving to CSKA, a replacement for him ? Kagawa (although he said he prefers a more ambitious club) or Shinji Ono (possibly returning to Japan).

But yes, salary could be an obstacle to recruit one of those guys, Tulio for example said he felt insulted by the offer he received from Twente (Less than what he earns in Japan), he even refused to meet the Dutch responsibles who made the trip exclusively to negotiate with him.

Tanaka is a bit of a fool though, like Honda once said the point of such a step is not to earn money but to develop yourself further and play yourself in the spotlight for the bigger clubs. Once you get into a bigger team, like Park did, money will come your way by itself alongside glory and other things.

Ono would be a very good player for VVV. I personally liked him a lot during his Feyenoord days, shame he didn't stay or get further in Europe.

I have to side with Tulio on this one, I wouldn't deem his behavior foolish. Tulio is alot older than any of these players being 28, he doesn't have the time to wait around. Plus unlike all these players the risk involved in signing a player like him is less due to the fact that he is an established player with tons of experience. I am sure the salary he was given was low, but you can't really blame Twente. I think it is more of the case that Tulio just missed the appropriate time in his career to move to Europe.

To be honest, Attack and Extra Attacker aren't directly linked. I'd more so take a peek at his Aggression in that case. Attack generally affects one's offensive positioning, it's an attribute which mostly carries it's effect in a defender's effectiveness inside the box (generally from set-pieces).

He's turned 22 this past summer, so his age can be updated. The official VVV website also states he's 189 cm tall and weighs 80 kg. Didn't play much yet though, mainly due to an injury and a lack in match fitness. So there's not much on the attribute side of things I can say about him.

His move to Eredivisie has been a nightmare so far, he had a serious injury in his very first 5 minutes while playing a friendly, he was out for 8 months (if not more), his injury worsened and his return was delayed every time. Only resumed the competition and made his league debut about 2-3 weeks ago. I heard he even had a therapy to get rid of the fear of being injured again.

Back to his days in Japan, his positional sense was average at best (something he could definitely improve while gaining experience) even by J. League standards but he had an excellent timing and showed better responsiveness (both at attacking/defensive tasks) than the majority of the confirmed defenders of the League. It's quite hard to pass him in 1-on-1 situations.

As for the 58 in attack, those stats are pretty old and back at the time, we had only a few handful players with ratings above 60. The standards of the site changed quite a bit when it comes to shooting stats/attack for defenders, a value around 63 would be more representative of him : he is rather good at positioning himself in the box during set pieces (but nothing spectacular) but more importantly : scored some goals during open play phases, he would definitely join the attack if he has a good opportunity or the team is losing and being in a bad shape in attack. The attacking minded Dutch league is normally a good place to start in Europe for guys like him and Makino.

At the present period, he needs playing time to retrieve his sensations. I hardly doubt he would play at the top of his level anytime soon after being away for such a loong time.

His debut for The Saints was far from being decent at least (well, almost the whole team was horrible against Arsenal today).
TBH, I'm not that sure that he will settle in the EPL, at least in the short term.

They're Southampton, a promoted side, it's not like they're aiming for a CL spot. Their calendar was very difficult (playing M. City, Man U, and Arsenal one after the other) but things should get better for them with time.

A solid game against Aston Villa for Yoshida, very responsive and pretty much unplayable in the air.
